Modern Warfare 3’s developer, Sledgehammer Games, has been extremely vocal about changes and community feedback since the release of MW3. Recently, SHG took to reddit to talk about upcoming changes to Modern Warfare III along with answers from community questions that gave vital insight into the future of MWIII. Here’s what you need to know:
SLEDGEHAMMER RESPONDS
Sledgehammer has been very vocal with the community since they’ve taken over the reigns this year. Below will be a list of the biggest answers SHG gave the community during a Reddit Q&A:
Question: Are there any fixes coming for the Groot Skin?
“Adjustments to Gaia and Gaia Blackcell Operator Skins are in the pipeline for Modern Warfare III. In a future game update, we’ll disable this item until said changes can be released to all players.”

Question: How will weapon balancing work?
“Weapon balancing is one of the biggest things we are looking at on a daily basis. Our goal is to have a meta shift from season to season to keep things fresh and interesting. That being said – we want as many weapons as possible to be viable to suit the variety of playstyles we have in our community. This is where we are looking closely at the data to target immediate tweaks for weapons that seem to be over or under-performing. We expect Season 1 to have higher-level tweaks with S1.5 to have some deeper changes.”

Question: Cage Fights or 1v1 Modes coming?
“There are currently no plans for a 1v1 mode at this time. However, if there’s enough interest… 👀”
SHG
Question: Streak looping?
“This is something that the team definitely wants to try out. One of the cool things about our Experimental Playlists is that they give us a chance to see how things work out in the wild. Expect to see something like this in a future Experimental Playlist and make sure to share your feedback in the survey we place in the MOTD.”

Question: Is the Spas-12 coming to the game?
“There are multiple classic Weapons from the Modern Warfare series that we’re looking to add in future Seasonal updates, including Shotguns and Sniper Rifles 😉”
SHG
Question: Anything to say about the desync or inconsistency in hit registration?
“Our team, in collaboration with Demonware, is always working to improve server and game performance. We got a lot of good reports and data during the Beta and Launch window. Many improvements have already been made, and further are underway.”

Question: Hello sledgehammer will u be making adjustments to ghost perk as its currently not working as intended uav still shows u.
“Ghost T/V Camo will only hide the player from enemy UAVs if they are moving. With that being said, we’re currently looking into reports that the detection from moving to standing still is too aggressive.”

Question: Any fix coming to Covert Sneakers?
“We’ll continue to monitor the performance of Perks, but at this time, there are no planned changes to the Covert Sneakers. It is important to note that players aren’t totally silent with this Perk equipped, there are still other sounds that can give them away.”
SHG
Question: How are you balancing weapons?
“We want each weapon category to have its own distinct role for different playstyles. In the beta, we saw that some SMGs were outperforming ARs at ranges that ARs should dominate, so we made some tweaks based on that. We are seeing a lot of data that the first SMGs a player unlocks are underperforming. We have some buffs planned for those. We want to make sure that SMGs are dominant in the areas they should be: Close-range TTK, ADS speed, Sprint to Fire, and general mobility. The data we have shows the most used SMGs are underperforming and that isn’t great. We are currently happy about where the Rival9 is in the meta and we are looking at all the other SMGs with this in mind. Shotgun management is something the team is looking into. The TTK of this game does make balancing shotguns extra challenging, but it is important to us to make sure that we carve out a space for these weapon types for the people who enjoy playing with them.”

Question: Will Headquarters ever return?
“To this day, we’re incredibly proud of the Headquarters in Call of Duty: WWII. Unfortunately, such a feature is a large undertaking – because of this, there are currently no plans for it to return in MW3.”
SHG
Question: Will Combat Pacing come back?
“We love to hear from players who enjoyed Combat Pacing in Vanguard. While there isn’t a plan to bring that exact system forward, we are planning to experiment with intensity. Since some of the maps have a lot of play space, we expect the upcoming 10v10 playlist to scratch that Combat pacing itch.”
SHG
Question: Is there a reason why we can’t preview finisher and executions moves anymore?
“We’re looking into the possibility of such a feature. We’re proud of our Animation team’s work on Finishing Moves and would love to show them off!”
SHG
Question: Do you have anymore plans for “events” in game?
“Absolutely! We have plans (short and long term) to bring some different event flavors to the Players. One of which is Field Rep, which is currently live with the Call of Duty Endowment: True Legends event!”
SHG
Question: Will any MW2 2009 DLC Maps be added to MW3? Ex. Carnival, Storm, Trailer Park, Fuel…
“There are no plans for these specific maps to return at this time. Our Seasonal updates will largely be made of all-new maps!”
