Call of Duty Zombies is a staple in the franchise, and Modern Warfare III brought us an all-new take on the mode. While MW3 Zombies seems to be a massive hit in the community, it seems the new “open world” take on Zombies isn’t the only version that will be in Modern Warfare 3. There are now new rumors that round based zombies will return in MWIII Zombies! Here’s what you need to know:
THE RETURN OF ROUND BASED
Firstly, during COD Next, Treyarch made a statement about what they have planned for Zombies. This could either be for COD 2024 or MWZ:

Next, for this topic, we’ll bring up two important facets: Modern Warfare 2 Zombies and Modern Warfare 3 Zombies leaks brought you by the usual twitter leakers.
For those of you that don’t know, Modern Warfare 2 originally had a Round Based and an Outbreak mode found in it’s files pre-release. This BLEW UP in the community for it would’ve been the first Zombies experience in the Modern Warfare games; of course, this never happened and was just old files of a project that eventually evolved to MWZ.
The new leak we’ll discuss relates to MW3 Zombies itself. In the current files, there’s references to “RBZ” specifically it’s exfil sequence. It’s all coding files that seem to reference the exfil call in time and how the helicopter acts, but RBZ is the shorthand for Round Based Zombies.
THE MAPS ARE ALREADY IN GAME
If you’ve been playing MWZ, then you’ve probably completed a good amount of the Act mission, which we have guides for here on DETONATED. At the end of each Act you get a story mission that’ll give you access to a specific exfil where you’ll be enclosed to a part of the map for the mission.
This could be a super easy way for them to make round based maps by utilizing parts of the map already in the game!
THE END
Do you hope round based returns to MW3? Personally, I’d be okay if it only comes back for COD 2024, but if they have time to bring us some maps, I can’t complain! Below is a video that goes further into the round based rumors!
