Today, we’re going over everything we know about the Blackout 2.0 experience coming to Call of Duty: Warzone. Here’s what you need to know:
Avalon Comes to Warzone!

With the recent COD NEXT stream, we were shown a roadmap of Warzone for the rest of this year, as well as part of next year. One big feature of that roadmap is that we’re getting an Avalon map inside of Warzone! While we’ll be seeing the Avalon map in the new Endgame mode, it will also be coming to Warzone in 2026! At one point, players had speculated the Avalon space had been scrapped. However, it will make its grand debut in Warzone later in 2026.
As mentioned before, Avalon will be the primary play space in the new Endgame mode. You’ll unlock this mode after completing the BO7 Campaign, & thus the Avalon space will be yours to explore. We’ll also see bits & pieces of Avalon throughout the Black Ops 7 Campaign missions. Multiple POIs, Easter eggs, & many ways to engage await players in Avalon!
Blackout Returns to Call of Duty!

Something else worth noting on the roadmap will have Blackout fans intrigued. That’s right folks, the roadmap revealed we’ll be seeing a Blackout Experience coming to Warzone in Spring of 2026! From what’s been said, we’ll be seeing this Blackout Experience coming to the Avalon map releasing next year. There are a couple different scenarios regarding how this experience could work.
Perhaps the mode is separate from the regular Battle Royale, or that the only way to play in the Avalon space is through Blackout. We’ll have to wait & see. It’s worth remembering that this will still be Warzone. Blackout isn’t replacing Warzone, but will be a mode within it.
There’s also the case of will Treyarch be working on this mode? With their focus on the new Endgame mode, it was stated that support for it will run through Season 3 of BO7/Warzone. With that being said, they could start working on & updating the Blackout experience once they’ve covered several seasons of Endgame. Maybe they’ll even support both modes at the same time.
What to Expect in Blackout 2.0?

Missions for characters like Ultimis, Reznov, Menendez, Mason, & so many other characters were available for players to take part in to unlock them. Usually involving items you needed to pickup, & win a game while it was in your inventory.
- No Loadouts
- Back in Blackout, there were no loadout drops that gave everyone their custom loadouts. Drops that occurred ingane would contain a random assortment of weapons for players to utilize. However, seeing that Blackout 2.0 will still be in Warzone, this one may be less likely to return due to potential backlash.
- On The Go Customization
- Within Blackout, players were able to find & equip various attachments to their weapons that they’d find as they played. This could lead to engagement styles changing based on if you found certain attachments for your weapon. Your current weapon may have been catered to CQB, but an attachment you locate in various loot areas could convert it to a longe range engagement device.
- Zombies Gameplay Elements
- Various POIs back in the original Blackout were focused on areas from Zombies past. The Diner, The Asylum, Buried, all locations found in Blackout. To go along with this, there were zombies at each of their respective locations that you’d have to contend with, as well as other players. The Mystery Box was also present in game that you could gain weapons from, as well as wonder weapons such as the Death of Orion & Ray Gun. There even was a Blightfather mini-boss at one point near the Asylum.
