The ending cutscene of The Tomb left fans hungry for more as a lack of character dialogue didn’t further the narrative too much beyond Citadelle Des Morts. Shattered Veil is now confirmed to be DLC 3 for Black Ops 6 Zombies, releasing on April 2nd with Season 3. Here’s everything we know about DLC 3 for Black Ops 6 Zombies:
The Tomb Ending Explained
Our main crew obtains the sentinel artifact after completing what was similar to a trial from the chaos storyline. S.A.M analyzes historical data that the artifact offers, once again referencing the canon events of Voyage of Despair to Ancient Evil.
It was confirmed Kortifex from Vanguard once possessed the sentinel artifact and gave it to the Egyptians. The artifact had seemingly become sentient and now possesses dark aether powers which have been worshiped.
Where Are We Going
S.A.M now wants to use the sentinel artifact to free Samantha from the dark aether, or at least that’s what our crew believes. Theories suggest S.A.M is actually Zykov (the forsaken) manipulating our crew into freeing him.
Returning to the Mansion means we’ll likely get follow up to Richtofen being trapped in the dark aether, where we’ll likely have to align with his mission after discovering the truth behind S.A.M.
Richtofen wanted possession of the Sentinel Artifact and Prima Materia to bring back his family or to likely manipulate time and space as we know it. While Requiem is seemingly on a quest to destroy him, it’s unlikely that their mission to rescue Sam will prove successful considering the events of MWZ.
Shattered Veil DLC 3 Preview

Our current crew of Weaver, Grey, Carver, & Maya are making their way across the globe & through the wooded hills of West Virginia towards ‘Colton Hill’. This is the name of the Mansion players saw in the Liberty Falls intro cutscene. S.A.M. is eagerly awaiting their arrival, promising the return of Requiem’s beloved Agent Maxis.
Our objective is to save Maxis from within the Dark Aether. Well, that’s Requiems & “S.A.M. s” goals. Though, that may prove troublesome as from the ending line of dialogue in the ‘Shattered Veil Gameplay Trailer’, Richtofen informs us not to trust “Her”. “Her” obviously being S.A.M., as he was seemingly pulled into the Dark Aether during the Liberty Falls intro by S.A.M.
Just behind the church in Liberty Falls is where fans can spot the Mansion which strangely enough, was also seen in the Season 5 Modern Warfare Zombies cutscene. Whether or not Ava will return through time travel remains to be seen.
We’ve never seen round based maps take place a few miles from one another. This appears to be an exclusive trope for Black Ops 6 between Liberty Falls, Mansion and eventually Janus Towers, just as Citadelle and The Tomb are both within Avalon. Intel suggests underground tunnels connect the Mansion and Janus Towers facilities.
A Janus response team was sent to investigate the town in Liberty falls, who were later betrayed and killed by Panos. It will be interesting to see if Blanchard, who still remains in the Mansion, will communicate with our team during ‘Shattered Veil’. We’re confirmed to be in communication with S.A.M., Peck, Strauss, & Ravenov guiding us through our mission. As well as possible communication with Richtofen.
GAMEPLAY CONTENT UPDATES
New Field Upgrade | Frost Blast
Treyarch also confirmed the Field Upgrade ‘Frost Blast’ will be coming later this Season. Frost blast provides players with an icy radius around them to slow & freeze zombies till their deaths. Rumors surfaced not too long ago about the potential augments we could see for ‘Frost Blast’, which we covered HERE.
New GobbleGums
Players are treated to three new GobbleGums, coming to packs near you. These GobbleGums will be available across all BO6 Zombies maps. Here are the three new GobbleGums joining the lineup:
- Tactical Diffusion [Rare]
- This GobbleGum will disable the next Nuke Power-Up from clearing the map of Zombies. It will instead just reward all players with 2,000 Essence.
- Support Group [Legendary]
- Consumption of this GobbleGum will reward you with an ARC-XD, Mangler Cannon, Sentry Gun, & Mutant Infection Support Streaks.
- Die Pitched [Whimsical]
- This GobbleGum will give Zombies high-pitched voices. This effect lasts 3 minutes.

New Perk | Double Tap
For the first time since BO3 back in 2015 (nearly a decade), Double Tap returns as a dedicated Perk-A-Cola, complete with a dedicated Perk Machine! Double Tap for those who’ve forgotten drastically increases your fire-rate for all your weapons. Double Tap will be available via the Wunderfizz not only on ‘Shattered Veil’, but also on ‘The Tomb, ‘Citadelle Des Morts’, ‘Terminus Island’, & ‘Liberty Falls’.

Like every Perk-A-Cola throughout Black Ops 6, you can research major & minor augments to improve the perk even further. Let’s go over each augment available for Double Tap:
Major Augments
- Double Jeopardy
- Normal Zombis at low health have a chance to immediately perish when shot.
- Double Impact
- Double hits on the same target in rapid succession will deal more damage.
- Double Standard
- All non-critical shots will do double damage. This will only apply to bullet weapons.
Minor Augments
- Double Time
- Further increases fire-rate bonus.
- Double or Nothing
- Weapon can do double damage, but also take the chance of doing zero damage.
- Double Play
- Killing two enemies within rapid succession of one another could potentially return two rounds to your magazine. This only applies to bullet weapons.
New Enemies
Elder Disciples
The Disciples are back, this time in the form of ‘Elder Disciples’. The Disciples, last seen in MWZ, receive a bit of a makeover. Seemingly, they wear attire very similar to the one worn by ‘The Order’ occult from the Chaos Story in BO4. The robes & the medallions they wear are strikingly similar to ‘The Order’s’.

For those unfamiliar with Disciples, they garner more strength from strengthening the undead around them. They also can summon more enemies to the field to fight for them. These floating menaces can cause the zombies to evolve quicker than normal, potentially leading to a Doppleghast being spawned, or other enemy types. The more damage you do, the angrier it gets. Your best bet is to keep a distance, and to kill it as quick as possible.
Toxic Zombies
The new ‘Toxic Zombies’ are set to make their debut in ‘Shattered Veil’. These zombie types may prove troublesome, as their sole purpose is to charge at players & detonate when in close enough proximity. They’re easy to spot thanks to the greenish glow they give off, as well as the tell-tale shriek they unleash before charging. They are quick if you aren’t paying attention, so keep your eyes peeled.

Wonder Weapons
Wunderwaffe DG-2
The ICONIC Wunderwaffe returns to Call of Duty Zombies here in Black Ops 6 Season 3. As weilded by Edward Richtofen in the Liberty Falls opening cutscene, players will be able to get their hands on the OG Wonder Weapon, aside from the original Ray Gun. Players got to use this last in MWZ, but for those who didn’t, here’s a quick summary.
The Wunderwaffe is capable of chain-lightning blasts that fry Zombies on the spot. Best used in large trains of the undead, for maximum affect. It can also stun Zombies, causing damage while they’re stuck until eventual death.
Ray Gun Mark 2 & Variants
The long-requested Ray Gun Mark 2 returns here in ‘Shattered Veil’. The infamous 3-round burst Wonder Weapon was recovered from within the Dark Aether by Project Janus. It can serve as a melee weapon in a pinch, if need be. It can also be Pack-A-Punched, giving it that extra powerful energy blast. The crazy thing about the Mark 2 this go around, is that it has variants to discover.
You read that right, similar to Alpha Omega in BO4, the Ray Gun Mark 2 will have variants to build & utilize against the legions of the undead. Here are some details regarding these 3 new variants of the Ray Gun Mark 2:
- Ray Gun Mark 2 – W: This variant has a similar fire rate to a SMG, compared to the base versions 3-round burst. This version can also potentially ignite enemies.
- Ray Gun Mark 2 – P: This variation fires more-so like a shotgun would. It also presents a rare chance of spawning an invulnerability sigil. This will grant the player invulnerability for a shot period while standing upon it.
- Ray Gun Mark 2 – R: The final variant fires with a discharge similar to a Marksman Rifle. This variant also has a chance spread an infection that will cause area of effect damage.
Support Scorestreak | Death Machine
The classic Death Machine returns as a supporting scorestreak in ‘Shattered Veil’. It will cost 1,750 Salvage & will rip the hordes to shreds. The Death Machine will become usable once you unlock it during the ‘Black Ops Tribute’ Event.

DLC 3 Shattered Veil Release Date
New reports have claimed more than 4 DLC maps are planned for Black Ops 6. While this is unconfirmed, it would make sense considering how far ahead Treyarch seemingly is with Zombies development. With just a 50 day gap between DLC 1 and 2, it would be strange not seeing something fill the void before the next Call of Duty releases.
Shattered Veil in Black Ops 6 Zombies will release on April 2nd, 2025. This is 24 hours before the Warzone Season 3 update will go live.
