Early Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Access, Missions and Offline Mode

Modern Warfare 4 is bringing back a traditional, single player narrative that picks up where MW3 left off. Players will focus on a new squad in South Korea, who will intertwine with an off the grid Captain Price as he forms an unusual alliance to uncover a threat behind enemy lines. Players have expressed excitement over offline support and new rumors of Campaign Early Access. Here’s everything you missed:

MW4 Single Player Story Explained

Infinity Ward is kicking off the fourth entry of the Modern Warfare reboot with a new squad based out of South Korea. Private Park is tasked with overcoming impossible odds during a full scale invasion. While an emerging threat in North Korea seeks to destabilize the world, Captain Price seeks revenge for Soap’s death from MW3.

Missions are set across the globe as Captain Price forms a rogue alliance with Valeria to get behind enemy lines. Ghost is forced into action and against his former Captain whose taken things too far. Graves and Shadow Company seek to control the narrative as they’re caught in a crossfire with a now crippled Task Force 141.

Throughout the MW4 Campaign, players will visit the likes of Paris, Mumbai, New York, Russia and of course South Korea.

Offline Campaign Support

For the first time this decade, story fanatics have the option of playing the MW4 campaign completely offline. Previously, players NEEDED an internet connection to access campaign, even though most story modes only supported single player. This would mean a player’s progress would be tied to his or her’s console, not their server side data after logging into their Activision profile.

Offline support is likely exclusive to Playstation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. While Nintendo Switch 2 offline support is up in the air, this usually isn’t something possible on PC launchers like Battlenet, Steam or the Microsoft store launcher.

Early Access Update

Following the review bombing of Modern Warfare III (2023), Call of Duty stopped offering early access Campaigns, even though it had only just become available with MWII (2022). Fans have speculated that Xbox Game Pass support may have also hindered the chances of being able to play Campaign a week before the rest of the game drops. Both MWII and MWIII offered early access to Campaign seven days prior to the full launch.

With Modern Warfare 4 being removed from Game Pass Ultimate, it’s entirely possible the door opens up to early access campaign, as Infinity Ward will likely want players on Multiplayer or DMZ beginning on October 23rd. With Grand Theft Auto 6 also on the horizon, it’s likely they’ll want to get the ball rolling with MW4 access as soon as October 16th.
