It is no secret anymore that Rex Infernus is set to be the last map in the Black Ops 7 game cycle.
Whilst there is a bunch of open ended story branches left to be concluded, the map is going to be the major conclusion to the Black Ops 7 Zombies story.
What do we know about the map so far? When is the map releasing? What do we as a community expect from the map? All that and more will be answered below!
When is Rex Infernus set to be released?
Back all the way in Season 2 Reloaded with the release of the Paradox Junction Zombies map it was officially announced by Treyarch on the update blog that every following Zombies map release will be in the Reloaded update of that season.
This being the final Zombies map, although not the final season, the Rex Infernus map is set to follow that same release route; that being Season 5 Reloaded.
The new map also marks the first time in Zombies history that we have had a DLC 5 Zombies map, so fingers crossed it will be an good experience that lingers for years to come.

What do we know about Rex Infernus so far?
Although Season 5 Reloaded is not here yet, we already do know some information about the upcoming Zombies map based off official teasers and community leaks, the latter won’t be mentioned in detail as we all know what happened with the last Zombies map…
Rex Infernus is Latin and translates to ”King of Hell” or ”King of the Underworld”, in this case referring to The Warden.
Some community members have been speculating that The Warden is Dr. Monty or The Shadow Man in disguise to trick the players once more.
We also know the legendary house of Dr. Monty is officially returning beyond just being a off-screen safe house, it being on top of a big, floating rock that is part of the playable map space.
The Dark Aether being what it is, it is most likely that this version of the iconic house is corrupted by the Dark Aether influences, warping reality and objects just like we had in previous maps; Ashes of the Damned being a prime example.
When it comes to new arsenal for the players to slay the undead with, there’s a bunch of stuff coming with the map release.
The major one being a previously leaked and loved Perk, that being Widows Wine. It was last seen in Black Ops 3, where the players grenades were transformed into spider-grenades that would slow zombies down when hit by either the grenade itself or when the player got hit by a zombie, causing a grenade to trigger.
A brand new Gobblegum is also being added, that being the ”Fully Packed Gobblegum”.
Based on the name we can assume it fully Pack-A-Punches the weapon you’re currently holding when activating the Gum, it is not mentioned if it is capped to Pack-A-Punch Level 3 in Cursed Mode.
The new update also bring 2 Legacy Weapons back that were supposed to be part of the Carry Over process from Black Ops 6 to 7, that being the Olympia shotgun (M14 gang) and the TR2 Marksman Rifle (FAL).
We currently do not have any information on the weapon specifics, if they are tied to the Rex Infernus Zombies map or if they are finally making them global Mystery Box weapons.

Recently Treyarch posted the teaser image above on their socials, which is a new upcoming enemy type for Rex Infernus.
Although not 1:1 a Vermin from Black Ops 6, as promised by Kevin Drew none would be in Black Ops 7 in a previous interview, it does have a spider shape from what we can see so far. That would also connect to Widows Wine returning as the final perk in the Black Ops 7 lifecycle.
