Black Ops 6 is set to receive a NEW UI Update to ‘COD HQ’ with its launch on October 25th. What this looks like for Black Ops 6 is uncertain in its entirety, but we have a FIRST LOOK from the Black Ops 6 Direct Xbox Presentation. Based on this, we have a good idea what the NEW Black Ops 6 COD HQ UI will entail. Here’s everything we know about the Black Ops 6 COD HQ UI Update:
WHAT IS COD HQ?
Since the release of MWII 2022, COD HQ is the new hub for Call of Duty games where previous and new titles are released, with all games consisting of running on the same single game engine. COD HQ is not a “singular game”, and new title releases are not “DLCs” to COD HQ, it is a launcher for all new COD games. It’s also worth noting that no new title will feel the same as the last going forward with Black Ops 6. The application also features things like a a “Recommended for You” section, or the latest news news related to the COD franchise such as the COD Shop, new bundles, etc. upon logging into COD HQ.

HOW IT CURRENTLY WORKS
Currently in COD HQ, the application features a horizontal game-list with cluttered sections like “Message of the Day” and “Recommended For You”, which makes navigation uncomfortable for the user.
However, in the Black Ops 6 reveal trailer, we can see shots of what seem to be a remade and improved interface, which is long overdue and a very welcome change to the COD HQ application.

THE COD HQ OVERHAUL COMING WITH BLACK OPS 6
Coming with Black Ops 6, the interface has been completely overhauled, from removing the animated images on every mode (atleast in Black Ops 6), to changing the COD HQ gamelist from horizontal to vertical, which is a lot more friendly on the user. Additionally, this change also makes COD HQ feel more of a real main menu / hub for COD titles, with the iconic characters of each game in the middle of the screen and the modes below, giving a mix of Black Ops 3 & 4’s menu’s combined into one. Keep in mind this is early footage of the UI, and Treyarch may decide to tweak it before it’s final release alongside BO6.

WHY A UNIFIED ENGINE HELPS THE COD FRANCHISE
With all studios and developers now being familiarized with the COD HQ engine, this means studio’s can help each other out to assist and develop a fully finished COD each release if need be. This prevents situations like Vanguard, where Treyarch had to develop the Zombies mode but were not familiar with the engine, meaning they had to learn the engine and how it works, meaning they didn’t have much time to put in the mode and finalize it.
