Black Ops 6 Zombies REUSES Multiplayer Assets: Nothing New For The Franchise.

Round Based is back & it’s bringing 2 new maps to the Launch of Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Terminus Island, & Liberty Falls. Our second launch map, Liberty Falls, may fall into a bit of controversy, however. It’s been a controversy that’s been prevalent in the Zombies community for years now, but it’s one that persists even heading into Black Ops 6. Let’s look a bit further into the potential issue Liberty Falls may face from the community, & how Treyarch have been making the most use out of their assets:

LIBERTY FALLS IS A MULTIPLAYER MAP?

With Liberty Falls confirmed to be taking place in West Virginia, people are speculating that a multiplayer map (also set in West Virginia) was featured in the Black Ops 6 Direct Event. The multiplayer map appears to be set in a parking lot of a mini-mall, potentially also being able to access the stores. Reportedly, the area of this multiplayer map is close to where Liberty Falls takes place. Of course, none of this is currently confirmed, and we might not see this area in Liberty Falls.

“REUSED ASSETS” ZOMBIES CONTROVERSY

The “reused assets” topic has been brought up once again with Black Ops 6 Zombies, with people complaining Treyarch are reusing assets and copy pasting maps from other modes for Zombies instead of “creating something unique”.

It should be noted that firstly, reused assets have always been a thing in Zombies since the start in World at War (all 4 maps were taken directly from the campaign/multiplayer). Maps like Der Riese, Kino, Five, Ascension, Call of the Dead & Gorod Krovi (which are all fan favorites) are all reused maps and “zombified” for Zombies. Secondly, it’s also possible that Liberty Falls is not “reused assets”. It could have originally been made first for Zombies, and then later on ported to campaign as a mission or multiplayer as a map. Lastly, it’s also important to note that if a map is reused, it will of course play completely different to it’s counterparts like a multiplayer or campaign variant.

ZOMBIES ATMOSPHERE

Even if a Liberty Falls (or any map) has been taken and adapted to a Zombies map, this still isn’t a problem and shouldn’t be complained about. The map will not look identical to its counterparts, and will be massively overhauled visually, with a different skybox, maybe a different layout, color pallete, etc. An example of a map not being atmospherically changed to fit the Zombies theme would be the Outbreak. Even though Treyarch most likely did not have the time and resources to Zombify those maps, they are simply just Fireteam maps ported to Outbreak. This will most definitely not be the case with any of the round based maps, considering Treyarch has been working on BO6 for 4 years and playtesting the Zombies mode alone for over 2 years.

THE END

What do you think about the “reused assets” controversy being talked about once again in COD Zombies, do you think reused assets is a good thing, a bad thing, or does it not matter/affect the Zombies mode?
