Black Ops 6 Season 2 is set to begin on January 28th, at 9am PT, 11am CT, 12pm EST. Season 2 for Warzone and Black Ops 6 will be a much anticipated content drop, with improvements for the Ricochet anticheat and potentially the return of Verdansk. Season 2 of Black Ops 6 will feature new multiplayer maps and likely DLC 2 for Zombies. Here’s everything you need to know about the second season of DLC for Black Ops 6, beginning later this month.
START TIMES & PRELOAD
Unlike previous seasons of Call of Duty, Black Ops 6 appears to be receiving new content on Tuesday, January 28th instead of the usual Wednesday drop. The first season of DLC arrived on a Thursday, which was also unlike the seasonal release schedule of recent Call of Duty titles.
Fans can expect the new season to be playable at 9am PT, 11am CT and 12pm EST. Update 1.66 was recently found in the database but doesn’t appear to contain Season 2 content. Stay tuned for further updates on the preload, as it’ll likely be around 20GB in size and may become available a few days before the 28th.
MP CONTENT
Black Ops 6 Multiplayer is receiving five maps in total throughout Season 2, with three maps coming at launch:
- Bounty (Core)
- Dealership (Core)
- Lifeline (Strike)

Along with the three maps, here’s the gamemodes that will be coming to Season 2 at launch:
- Overdrive (New)
- TDM where each team needs to earn stars to win
- 1 Star – Basic Eliminations
- 2 Stars – Core Medal Eliminations (Headshots & Melee Attacks)
- 3 Stars – Distinguished Medal Eliminations (Impressive Takedowns).
- Earning Stars not only allows you to win the match, but earning stars yourself will give your operator Overdrive abilities which will last until your on-screen timer runs out or if you’re eliminated:
- 1 Star – Awakened Senses – See enemies through walls and replenish your health after an elimination
- 3 Stars – Physical Enhancements – Increased movement and reloading speed
- 6 Stars – Augmented Handling – Improved hip-fire accuracy and sprint-to-fire speeds.
- TDM where each team needs to earn stars to win
- Gun Game (Returning)
- FFA Party mode where you will cycle between guns with each elimination. The first player to cycle through all guns wins. Melee kills will setback the eliminated player to the previous weapon.

QUALITY OF LIFE CHANGES
Quality of Life, or QOL, changes certain aspects of the game to benefit specfic systems and the players. Those listed below are for all modes in Black Ops 6 (excluding Warzone):
- Challenge Tracking – You can now track unlock challenges like you could in MWIII. Just hover over which challenge you’d like to track (camos, calling cards, etc) and it will be prioritized within matches for you to keep track of it’s progress! You can track up to 10 Calling Card & 10 Camo Challenges per mode.
- Unique HUD Presets – You can now select different HUD Presets for each mode in Black Ops 6. You will have the freedom to select the Classic HUD in Zombies without it affecting your Multiplayer HUD now!
THe QOL Changes listed below will be for Zombies Specifically:
- Co-Op Pause In matches where everyone is in the same party, the party leader can now pause the game for everyone. Useful if you need to take a break or grab a snack.
- AFK Kick Loadout Recovery – If a player gets kicked for being AFK, their loadout, Essence, and Salvage will be restored whenever they join back!

WARZONE CONTENT
There isn’t much, but it’s good to note for those that play. For Season 2, the developers decided to shift content originally planned for Season 2 of Warzone to be released later on, and made their focus be catered towards the gameplay tuning, more QOL improvements, and fixing on-going bugs.
- Weapon reload and swap speeds, jump mechanics, parachute transitions, and audio clarity have been fine-tuned.
- Ranked Play is getting refined too with the amount of SR required being adjusted along with deployment fees.
Ranked Play will go live in the Launch Window.
