For the first time in Call of Duty history, players can bring their entire inventory from the previous title into the new one. Modern Warfare 3 is introducing Carry Forward, which allows everyone to bring nearly everything they unlocked from Modern Warfare 2. Here’s everything you can and cannot transfer from MW2 into MW3.

How MW3 Carry Forward Works
Players on the same account as the one they played MWII on, can bring nearly their entire inventory of weapons, operators and cosmetics into any mode of Modern Warfare III. If a player did not play MW2, they won’t be at a disadvantage by any means, and can still unlock that game’s set of weapons while playing Modern Warfare 3.

MWIII Pre Order Bonuses such as the Soul Harvester Blueprint and the Zombie Ghost skin will also transfer into the new title. Playstation exclusive content like the Oni Operator, or his various combat packs, will be available on all platforms within Modern Warfare 3 as well.
Everything That IS Transferring to MW3

Weapons
Every weapon that initially released in MWII, as well as the seasonal ones will all usable in MWIII on November 10th. Players can pick up where they left off with the weapon leveling and camo progression, even while playing MW3 multiplayer with the last title’s set of weapons
Operators
Every base operator or operator skin you unlocked in Modern Warfare 2 will transfer into Modern Warfare 3 immediately. Whether the player unlocked an operator through a campaign challenge or through the battle pass doesn’t matter, the character will be transferrable.

Camos
Something that the community has been confused about, is how MW2 camos transfer into MW3. All MW2 camos and mastery camos can be earned on MWII weapons while playing MW3 multiplayer, but they cannot be equipped onto MWIII weapons. Fingers crossed for a grand mastery reward which may allow players to mix and match camos.

Bundles
Every cosmetic ranging from tracer blueprints, universal wraps and finishing moves from MW2 bundles will indeed carry forward into Modern Warfare 3. All charms, stickers, decals, emblems, loading screens and vehicle skins will be compatible in the new Call of Duty. That’s a lot of cosmetics! The Han Zimmer music pack is surprisingly compatible with MW3 as well.

Seasonal Exclusive Content
If you’re someone who recently unlocked the Ghoulie animated camo, or collected all the cosmetics from past seasonal events, then don’t worry. Every rare item from Modern Warfare 2 can be brought forward into Modern Warfare 3, so long as the player unlocked that content. All battlepass unlocks are also included here.
Season 6 Battlepass Progression
For the first time, Call of Duty is allowing players to continue progressing through a previous game’s battlepass. Beginning on November 10th, MW3 players can pick up where they left off with the MW2 Season 06 battlepass, until Season 01 begins on December 6th.

COD Points
Each year, a frequently asked question is whether or not COD points transfer into the new title. Since the dawn of COD Points in Advanced Warfare, players have been able to transfer all of their currency across each Call of Duty so long as they’re on the same account. COD Points are platform specific, and will transfer to MW3 if you had any leftover inside of MW2.

Beta & Campaign Rewards
Any and all rewards earned while playing the MW3 multiplayer beta or campaign early access can be used inside of Multiplayer and Zombies on November 10th.
MWII Maps
As revealed in the “Prepare for Launch” Blog Post; some MWII’s (2022) maps will be brought over to MWIII (2023) during it’s post launch. Some of the maps included (but not limited to) are:
- Farm 18
- Mercado Las Almas
- Shoot House
In the blog post, it says there will be four 6v6 maps, but they only list 3. Our guess is the 4th map is Shipment, but they could surprise us!

They state that the maps are graphically the same to MWII, but you may find new ways to play the game with the new movement overhauls that come with MWIII. Whether or not they choose to change a ton about the maps themselves have yet to be seen, but as of now, it’s safe to assume they’re the same maps.
Everything That ISN’T Transferring to MW3
MW2 Leveling
There isn’t much that won’t carry forward into Modern Warfare 3, and your level within MW2 is one of those things. While you can still progress your Season 06 battlepass during the pre season window of MW3, your rank will not transfer over. Your MW3 rank will then be integrated with Warzone at the start of Season 01. The max rank in Modern Warfare II will remain at 1250.

MW3 Beta Progress
Apart from the various Beta rewards you may have unlocked for MW3, your level and weapon progression will not carry forward into the full launch of the game. Call of Duty has never allowed fans to transfer their beta progress, and I doubt they’ll start anytime soon.
Locked & Licensed Operators
As stated above, if a player unlocked an operator by completing a RAID, the MW2 campaign or finishing a past battlepass, then they can bring that character into MW3. Any operators that were not unlocked or purchased cannot be brought into MWIII, and there won’t be an unlock method for those characters.
Licensed and limited time operators cannot be transferred if a player didn’t purchase them in Modern Warfare 2. Unless a bundle returns to the item shop, then they’ll be vaulted forever as bundle gifting isn’t a feature in COD 2.0.
War Tracks & Vehicle Skins
Strangely enough, it was confirmed that vehicle war tracks will not be carrying forward into Modern Warfare 3. While this is likely due to copyright, players can still use their war tracks inside of Warzone. Sledgehammer also confirmed that players cannot use vehicle skins for cars or SUVs that aren’t in MW3 ground war.

For example, the GMC Hummer and TAV aren’t in MWIII, therefore a player cannot use a skin for those vehicles in game.
