The Call of Duty community has been on a rollercoaster these past few days as news about the Black Ops 6 Warzone map took people by surprise. From a NEW resurgence map, to a delayed battle royale map and even the return of Verdansk, fans are in for a treat for the Black Ops 6 Warzone integration.

THE BLACK OPS 6 INTEGRATION
As confirmed by Treyarch during the Black Ops 6 direct, Season 1 will provide an overhaul to Warzone, introducing omnidirectional movement into Battle Royale and Resurgence.

Details were scarce on the BO6 Warzone update, but it was implied more details would be provided at COD NEXT later this Summer.
NEW ‘AVALON’ Map Delayed
According to a new report from Insider Gaming, Avalon was originally planned as the new ‘Big Map’ for the Black Ops 6 Warzone integration, but has since been delayed until 2025.

We previously dropped some coverage on Avalon following the direct, but this new map being saved for 2025 certainly raises some questions. Will it release during the Black Ops 6 cycle or for the rumored futuristic Black Ops 2 cycle releasing in over a year?
AREA 99 RESURGENCE MAP
Twitter leaker @BobNetworkUK has claimed that Treyarch is developing a new resurgence map allegedly titled ‘Area 99’ which should release during the live seasons.

It’s been speculated this could be the Season 1 Warzone map in place of a Battle Royale experience, while a big map could release closer to Season 3 similar to the Cold War Warzone schedule.

Leaker BobNetwork tweeted this with an image of Amerika from Cold War, which could imply the map is based on a make shift reimagining of a particular location despite being based out of a different country.
CLASSIC VERDANSK DELAYED
Despite no official confirmation from Activision, rumors of a Verdansk remake have shifted from it being a Black Ops 6 Season 1 release to a ‘late 2025’ map drop.

Insider Gaming has corroborated claims from BobNetwork that Verdansk has been delayed until early 2025. It’s likely this is being saved for the 5 year anniversary in March.
Reports suggest that Activision didn’t have plans to bring back Verdansk until after the success of the Fortnite OG update a few months ago.
WHAT ABOUT URZIKSTAN
Over the past year, ranked play support for Urzikstan has been a strange topic to say the least. Earlier reports suggested it would be mid 2024, while Activision recently confirmed it’ll be later this year.

With a rumored delay to Verdansk or another big map like Avalon, it’s likely the studio has since reignited development on more Urzikstan support, including Ranked Play which map drop later this fall.
