Black Ops 7 Black Ops Royale Gameplay Breakdown, Maps, Content, and More

Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 & Warzone are set for a MASSIVE shakeup with the upcoming release of Blackout, or newly named Black Ops Royale! In what hails back to the original Battle Royale from BO4, Black Ops Royale will be a brand-new Battle Royale experience for fans of the mode to enjoy in Black Ops 7 & Warzone. Seemingly everything from Blackout returns here in this new experience, from operator missions, to loot hunting, zombies within the map, & even more! Today, we’re going to go into detail about everything coming to Black Ops Royale, including how the mode works, activities, systems, & more! Here’s what you need to know:

How Black Ops Royale Works

Black Ops Royale will work similarly to the original Blackout from back in Black Ops 4. The mode will support up to 100 players (divided into 25 squads of 4), & everyone begins on the same playing field. All players begin with 2 plates of armor, a wingsuit, a Jäger 45 Pistol, & a knife. No loadouts to begin the game.

Your objective is to loot weapons, weapon attachments, equipment, armor, Killstreaks, etc. as fast as you can from loot caches. The sooner you have a better weapon, the better. With no Buy Stations or Gulag redeploys, every life is valuable. However, there are ways back into the fight.

You & your squad need to outlast every other player in order to claim victory. As time passes in the game, “The Collapse” will slowly enclose around the map. Speaking of the map:

Avalon – The New Home for Black Ops Royale

Several changes are coming to Avalon to help accessibility within Black Ops Royale, as opposed to Endgame. Multiple areas have been adjusted to reduce water prevalence, & allow more transportation for players. Shallow Waterways have been created, allowing crossing for players on foot, in vehicles, or in watercraft.

Sandbars have also been put in place for easier crossing & defense of the coastal areas. This will be less forgiving for watercraft, but allows travel for land vehicles. The map below displays changes coming to the costal area of Avalon.

The following new areas are available with these new changes coming to Avalon in Black Ops Royale:

  • Stadium Coast
  • Sandbar Ruins
  • Coastal Security Sandbars
  • Military Outpost
  • Listening Post Waterways
  • Low Town Island
  • Resorts Island
  • Heliport
  • Old Arsenal Isle

Weapon Details, Rarities, Attachment Kits & More!

With no loadouts available after deploying in Black Ops Royale, you’ll need to find a weapon through ground loot. Loot caches & supply boxes are going to be your go to, in order to find a better weapon. You can also find them through activity rewards. With ground loot weapons, you’ll be able find them in various rarities, ranging from common, to legendary weapons. Weapon rarities scale like this:

  • Common
  • Uncommon
  • Rare
  • Epic
  • Legendary

Every weapon you pick up from ground loot will have predetermined attachments as well. The higher rarity of the weapon, the more attachments it will have. Common weapons will have one attachment, while legendary weapons will have a maximum of 5 attachments. There will also be Exotic Weapons you can find that deliver more destructive ability.

Players will be able to upgrade their weapons by picking up Attachment Kits. These kits can be found around the map, & will add another attachment to your weapon, while also upgrading the rarity of it. Starting at a Common weapon & equipping an Attachment Kit will upgrade it to Uncommon. You’ll be able to view your attachments for a weapon via the Upgrade Path menu in-game.

Perks

Perks can be utilized to give you an advantage on your opponents. Players can activate them, or store them for more advantageous opportunities later in game. They can be found through ground loot, supply caches, or activity rewards. Perks can also be dropped & shared with teammates.

A maximum of 5 can be carried at one time, & usage durations can last from 2 to 4 minutes. It all depends on which perk you grab to use. Here are the various perks coming to Black Ops Royale:

  • Awareness
  • Looter
  • Squad Link
  • Outlander
  • Engineer
  • Brawler
  • Iron Lungs
  • Medic
  • Mobility
  • Paranoia
  • Reinforced

Returning Classic Blackout Equipment

There are many returning pieces of equipment from the classic Blackout days coming in Black Ops Royale. This equipment varies from throwable items, to armor, & even field upgrades. These are the returning relics of Blackout into Black Ops Royale:

Grappling Hook

The ever popular Grappling Hook is back in the Battle Royale scene! The Grappling Hook increases your maneuvering abilities ten-fold, while also providing the opportunity to pair it with the wingsuit for amazing combos. It can be fired at stationary objects, or moving vehicles, RC-XDs included.

Sensor Dart

Sensor Darts provided a major tactical advantage to those who utilized them properly. It will ping & reveal enemies within a short radius, provided you’ve hidden it well. It’s easily destroyed so place it smartly. They can be pinned to walls, ceilings, moving vehicles, & even players.

Cymbal Monkey

In a blast from the past, zombies relic “the cymbal monkey” returns in Black Ops Royale. This can be used to distract nearby zombies & take them out with explosive effect. These can be found in Cradle Breaches.

Trauma Kits

Trauma Kits were super beneficial to players later in games as they provided a full regain of health. They will function the same in Black Ops Royale, as well as adding an additional 100 HP after usage for 3 seconds. This additional health will disappear after those 3 seconds however, so keep that in mind.

Ammunition

All unique forms of ammunition will be returning in the new Battle Royale experience. From Pistols, to Launchers, & even Sniper rounds, all will be available to scavenge in Avalon.

Tiered Armor Vests

Every form of Armor Vest returns in Black Ops Royale. Players can grab Tier 1, Tier 2, Tier 3 Armor Vests for the best chance at survival. Armor Plates will also be available, as well as Armor Satchels to carry more plates for restock. These Vests can be found through different methods:

  • Tier 1 Armor can be found primarily through ground loot.
  • Tier 2 Armor can be obtained as rewards from the Strongbox Crack activity. Or they can also be found as rare ground loot.
  • Tier 3 Armor can be found as Very Rare ground loot. They can also be obtained as rewards through the Cradle Beach: Cradle Boss activity.

New Killstreak – Psych Bomb

A new neurotoxic cluster strike will be available as a Killstreak within Black Ops Royale. Five projectiles will for a circular pattern with gas dispersing from the projectiles. This gas will cause hallucinations & limited visibility.

Redeploys

There are a couple of ways back into the battle in Black Ops Royale. Either you can use Redeploy Tokens, or use the Redeploy Tower. Here’s a closer look at each method of redeploying:

Redeploy Tokens

Every game of Black Ops Royale, you’ll start with one Redeploy Token. More can be found as loot as you play, but you can only carry 1 token per life. Once eliminated, there will be a short delay before you’re dropped back in & use the token you possess.

Redeploy Towers

One of the primary activities within Black Ops Royale, the Redeploy Tower Activity will stand to be one of the most active objectives in-game. If your team is able to capture the tower by staying within its radius, you’ll be able to redeploy your whole team.

Vehicular Transportation

There will be several vehicles available for players to travel by air, land, or water. These are the different vehicles available, with one new addition:

  • ATV
  • LTV
  • Cargo Truck
  • UTV
  • RHIB
  • TAV
  • Dirt Bike
  • Light Heli – New

Activities in Black Ops Royale

There are a plethora of activities to partake in within the new Black Ops Royale mode. These activities range in difficulty, objective, & rewards. They will spawn in at random locations within Avalon, giving way to multiple random encounters & engagements with opponents. Here are the various activities in Black Ops Royale:

Surprise Shipments

There are Abandoned Guild Shipment Containers scattered around Avalon. Once within a medium proximity range of the container & the alarm will begin to ring. Once your team enters close proximity, the doors will open & a wave of robotic enemies will empty out to defend the shipment. Defeat them & claim the loot within. Rewards include an Armor Satchel & other loot.

Relay Antenna

Squads will need to capture a Guild Antenna Tower. Doing so will activate a temporary 30 second UAV, & ping all nearby enemies. To do this, you’ll need to access the flip screen located on a tripod within the tower. A redeploy drone & wire ascender will also activate near the Relay. This will be active for about 1 minute or so. The site can be used again after a short cooldown.

Redeploy Tower

As stated earlier, another method or redeploying is through the Redeploy Tower Activity. You’ll need to interact with the terminal to activate the tower itself. This will begin a countdown, which will shorten if more squad mates are near. The tower will then open a rift & redeploy your fallen teammates. The tower has three different status colors.

  • Blue means it’s available for use.
  • Yellow means it’s in use, so be ready for reinforcements or hostiles.
  • Red means the tower is on recharge.

Ammo Caches

These are your standard ammo refill stations. Expect them to be located in low enforcement areas, but expect them to be a hotspot for squads looking to refill their munitions. Your Tacticals & Lethals will also be refilled at these caches.

Supply Drops

Occasionally a Guild plane will fly overhead of the map. This plane will drop multiple Supply Crates across the flight path it follows. Four of these crates however will contain high value loot to obtain & use. These can be super beneficial later in game, or right after redeploying for a good regain.

Strongbox Crack

This activity will require you & your squad to obtain a drive containing Safecracking Software. Once you’ve obtained this drive, you’ll need to locate the Guild Safe somewhere in Avalon. After you’ve located it & connected the device, alarms will begin to sound, & enemy squads will be alerted to your activities.

After 10 seconds, the safe will open & the loot will be available. Rewards will include Tier 2 Armor, & other loot.

Surveillance Drone

There will be Guild Drones patrolling a certain area of Avalon in-game. Your objective is to take out the drone & claim the loot it provides. Upon engaging it the first time, it will retreat & summon defenses to protect it. Defeat these extra drones & pursue the main drone.

The second engagement will see the drone stand & fight, summoning other drones for support. Upon defeating it, loot will be dropped within the wreckage.

Cradle Breaches

Cradle Breaches will occur throughout a match of Black Ops Royale. These can occur in random locations, & will be dropped by a Guild Stealth Bomber. It will drop a Cradle Gas Bomb, where upon impact, will begin to emit a red gas that envelops an area of the region. These only last a few minutes, so if you’re going after them, you only have a limited time to do so.

This red gas however causes massive hallucinations, & they take the form of a familiar foe to Blackout Players. That’s right, the undead are back in Battle Royale, as Cradle Breaches bring Zombies into Black Ops Royale. With the high risk of the undead, players can also earn some high tier loot, but must also be weary of other squads showing up with the same idea.

Cradle Breach Boss: Mangler

One of two activities will begin one the gas has finished its initial dispersion. One of these activities is a Mangler will spawn in. Teamwork will be needed as this Mangler means business, complete with dangerous weaponry & heavy armor. Rewards for defeating the Mangler include Tier 3 Armor, & other loot.

Cradle Breach: Mystery Box

The second activity that can occur is the Mystery Box will spawn in. The key giveaway will be the blue beam shooting into the sky. Similar to the original Blackout, you’ll need to clear out hordes of the undead to unlock the box.

Once cleared out, the box can reward players with some serious loot, including Exotic Weapons, & even the Ray Gun! The box can be used multiple times until either the Breach begins to clear, or it’s been used a set number of times.

Challenges & Rewards

Alongside the release of Black Ops Royale, there will be exclusive Daily Challenges available in the main Warzone menu, all to complete in this new mode. To go with those Daily Challenges, there will also be Black Ops Royale exclusive Weekly Challenges, as well as Calling Card Challenges.

As for Playlist Challenges, Black Ops Royale has you covered. Three free rewards can be claimed by completing simple challenges within the new Battle Royale mode. These are the challenges & their corresponding rewards:

  • ‘Skyhook’ Redeployment Tower Weapon Charm
    • Complete 10 Activities
  • ‘Crimson Descent’ Calling Card
    • Place in the Top 10 (3) times
  • ‘Triarch’ Weapon Camo
    • Open the Mystery Box 3 times

There will also be a set of challenges specific to operator, just like the original Blackout’s Operator Missions! These will be called Operator Orders. Hidden challenges within Avalon await solving & will provide plenty of rewards for players to claim.

To add to it, Black Ops Royale will also have a separate crossover & Event Pass launching later on March 17th. There will be a plethora of rewards to earn on both a free & premium track. It will operate similar to previous Event Passes in Black Ops 6 & 7.
