MODERN WARFARE 2 SEASON 6 PRELOAD, FILE SIZE & SPAWN ARTWORK

Modern Warfare 2 is nearing it’s end, as Season 6 is set to begin on September 27th. The sixth and final season of MW2 is set to be a Halloween themed season, bringing back the Haunting event which was absent from last year’s title. Spawn is reportedly the Battlepass operator for the upcoming season. Additional MWII Season 6 details have been revealed early, as you’ll see below.

Early Season 6 Artwork Reveal

According to @PlaystationSize on Twitter, the Season 6 artwork and app icon has been added to the Playstation database. With all future Call of Duty titles launching from the ‘COD HQ’ client beginning with MW2, the new artwork doesn’t say Season 6, but is clearly for the September 27th title update. In the past, seasonal keyart would showcase the upcoming Battlepass operators for that season.

With the Season 6 key art having a focus on Albert Simmons and Spawn, this could mark the first time a celebrity crossover is released as a Battlepass offering in Call of Duty. Spawn was recently leaked as one of four operators coming during the Haunting this fall.

The Season 6 Preload Date

As per usual, the new title update got discovered around a week before the new content is set to release. Preloads for Call of Duty updates are only released for Playstation platforms, not Xbox or PC unfortunately. The early download should begin to appear for PS4 and PS5 users beginning next Monday or Tuesday, shortly before the start of Season 6. Xbox and PC will see the pop up for the Season 6 download once the final season begins on September 27th at 9am PT, 11am CT and 12pm EST.

How Big is The Season 6 Update

Judging from the file sizes of every previous download for a new season, Modern Warfare 2 will likely ask for an update anywhere from 20-30GB. Season 5 had unique title updates for the start of the season and the mid season, as fans saw a patch that required upwards of 60-100GB to be downloaded as the install decreased the overall game size. With Season 6 marking the beginning of the end for Modern Warfare 2, don’t be surprised if the overall game size decreases again prior to the launch of Modern Warfare 3.

Full Roadmap, Blogpost & Content Reveal

During the MW2 life cycle, Activision has stuck to a tradition of revealing a new season an exact week before launch, with the exception of a Thursday reveal for a season or two. Reloaded updates have gotten revealed as late as two days before the content drop, which was unusual. Expect Season 6 to get a full roadmap and blogpost reveal, no later than this Thursday, September 21st. With MW3 marketing building up towards COD NEXT, expect MW2 announcements to fit right in between the news for the next title.
