The Season 6 Reloaded Update for Modern Warfare 2, The Haunting, is releasing on October 17th at 9am PT, 11am CT and 12pm EST. Free daily login rewards and blueprints are confirmed to be releasing with the MW2 haunting event. Here’s everything we know about the new unlocks that fans can earn by playing the MWII haunting event early next week.
The Haunting Event Preload
Modern Warfare 2 is set to receive it’s mid season 6 update on Tuesday, October 17th. The preload for the MW2 halloween event has been discovered by @PlaystationSize on Twitter, and is likely another patch that will reduce the overall game size following the install. With the odd release of the next MWII update on Tuesday instead of the usual Wednesday, fans can expect the download to appear for Playstation on Monday night, just hours before the Haunting begins.
New Haunting Cinematic Trailer
The beginning of Season 6 for MW2 added in a short gameplay preview of the upcoming Halloween event. Just earlier today though, a cinematic trailer showcasing the ‘El Asilo’ map reskin was released, which surprisingly furthers the post launch story as well. With the trailer having a DIA DE MUERTOS focus, we can also get a glimpse of Valeria and Alejandro facing off once again. The last we saw these two characters was in Season 3, where Alejandro set out to find Valeria after she escaped from prison.
A full trailer preview and breakdown can be found below, but it’s unclear if we’ll also see a cinematic released for Embassy, another map that’s set to get a reskin during the Haunting event.
FREE Haunting Daily Login Rewards
Just recently, the usual Twitter leakers posted the final set of daily login rewards coming to Modern Warfare 2. Over the last few seasons, there’s been a few sets of rewards added which players can claim just by logging in on different calendar days. As opposed to previous daily login offerings, the Haunting set will offer ten rewards spread across ten days, instead of five to seven as we’ve previously seen. The new Haunting rewards include:
- Day 1 – Pumpkin charm
- Day 2 – Halloween Emblem
- Day 3 – Double Weapon XP Token
- Day 4 – Zombie Sticker
- Day 5 – Halloween Calling card
- Day 6 – Dog Sticker
- Day 7 – Halloween Loading Screen
- Day 8 – Double Battle Xp Token
- Day 9 – Witch Sticker
- Day 10 – Nightmare Sweats Weapon Blueprint (Bryson 800 Skin)
All Haunting Event Challenges, Rewards & Secrets
We previously posted a breakdown of all content releasing the MW2 haunting event. In comparison to the Haunting for Modern Warfare (2019) and Black Ops Cold War, this new halloween event is offering the most content that the community has ever seen. The MWII haunting will have map updates for two multiplayer maps, Al Mazrah and Vondel. Similar to the Trophy Hunt event from Season 3, a Soul Capture event will be added, allowing players to exchange souls for various cosmetic rewards.
Scary map expansions and boss fights are also releasing via Operation Nightmare, which can be seen in both Warzone and DMZ. Players have an opportunity to unlock free cosmetics, blueprints and operator skins by taking part in aforementioned challenge events.
