MW3 Zombies Season 3 Reloaded has added a Hidden Easter Egg Boss Fight. In addition to many other secrets this Season, the secret Dark Aether boss fight allows players to unlock a FREE animated blueprint called Smoke Signals in MWIII Zombies Season 3 Reloaded! Here’s everything you need to know about the secret Dark Aether boss fight and animated Smoke Signals blueprint unlock for Modern Warfare 3 Zombies Season 3 Reloaded:
FREE Animated Blueprint (Smoke Signals)
The Zombies community was surprised to see a FREE blueprint reward for completing a secret boss fight within the third Dark Aether Rift. Season 1 offered a free, non animated blueprint for completing all three contracts in the rift, but the Season 3 Reloaded Smoke Signals blueprint is even better.
Hardcore Zombies fans will be able to unlock ‘Smoke Signals’ an animated blueprint for the RAM-7 assault rifle. The free blueprint comes with the JAK Ripper chainsaw AMP and emits smoke regardless if the players equips a camo onto the weapon skin.
How To Unlock Smoke Signals Blueprint
In order to enter the secret boss, who needs to be defeated to unlock the blueprint, players will need to understand how to complete the relic quest before entering the third Dark Aether rift. This process will be broken up into the following steps:
Collecting Dark Aether Artifacts
Season 3 Reloaded added a NEW ACT 4 mission, titled ‘Union’. Players need to complete the mission and collect the attuned Giraffe artifact. Three other artifacts can then be discovered on Urzikstan, which we covered in this guide.
The three artifacts must then be UPGRADED to golden attuned rarity, just like the Giraffe. This process for artifact upgrading is different from Season 1 and Season 2, as it’s the same challenge for each relic. Season 3 Reloaded added a Tier 3 Triangle Easter Egg, which must be completed for the upgrades.
Completing Dark Aether Contracts
Just like in the previous Dark Aether rifts, players will need to complete a series of three contracts once they’re in the new map. These contracts are easier to find, as instead of rabbits that need to be grabbed, players will need to interact with pedestals which emit a big yellow light in the sky, like the Mystery Box.
The three contracts can be completed in any order and consist of:
- Bounty
- Escort
- Outlast

Activating The Secret Boss Fight
Only AFTER a player completes the three contracts in the third rift can they activate the secret boss fight in THAT specific match. It’s recommended to speed through the contracts in the NORMAL sigil rift to have enough time to unlock the blueprint. Elder sigil runs slash a player’s time in the rift in HALF.
Three spores can be shot around the third rift, which look similar to the spore contracts from Urzikstan. Using a scorcher to fly around the rift can help players spot the spores from above. One giant spore, marked with a star must be destroyed once three smaller ones have. Here are all spore locations:
Defeating The ‘Gyanxi’ Disciple Boss
After players destroy all four spores in the third Dark Aether rift, they will come face to face with the Gyanxi disciple boss. This boss fight is straight forward, just as it was in the ACT 4 mission. This secret boss will be invulnerable until his mangler minion is destroyed.
Once the Gyanxi mangler is defeated, players can then damage the disciple boss, whose easily defeated by legendary tier 3 weapons and any equipment that can be thrown his way. Upon defeating this secret boss, players will get a popup that they’ve unlocked the blueprint.
