Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 Reloaded Gameplay, Content and Download

MW3 & Warzone Season 1 Reloaded begins on January 17th, at 9am PT, 11am CT, 12pm EST. The classified battlepass sector confirms Modern Warfare III Season One Reloaded begins in mid January for Multiplayer, Warzone and Zombies. Season 1 Reloaded for Warzone and MW3 will be the 2nd big content drop to the game, featuring new maps, events, operators and challenges. Here’s Everything you need to know about early gameplay, content and download for MWIII & Warzone Season 1 Reloaded:

MW3 Season 1 Reloaded Preload and File Size
With the release date of MWIII Season 1 Reloaded being January 16th, the preload for this update should rollout on Playstation and Battlenet around January 14th. Playstation Game Size on Twitter will likely report when the mid season one update gets added to the database.
The size of the initial Season 1 download for MW3 and Warzone was around 30-40GB in size. Season 1 reloaded won’t be nearly as big, but previous mid season updates have usually ranged anywhere from 12-15GB even if the content isn’t as grand as the start of the season. The patch may contain more bundles and even the groundwork for Season 2 content.
NEW Multiplayer Maps
Rio (6v6)

UPDATE: New Gunfight Map (2v2)
Sledgehammer confirmed there will be six gunfight maps in rotation by the end of Season 1, with the sixth map coming with the mid season update. As of now, Training Facility is the only original gunfight map in MW3, not including the four carry forward maps from MW2 (2022).
Rust secretly made its way into the map rotation early in season 1, which means gunfight won’t get any new maps until at least season 2. This map wasn’t previously announced in the initial season 1 marketing.

NEW Game Modes
The initial blogpost for MW3 Season 1 confirmed the addition of Team Gunfight, All or Nothing, Headquarters and Infected for Multiplayer. All or Nothing was previously scheduled to go live on December 13th, but the mode released broken and was quickly pulled from rotation.

It’s likely that only one or two of these modes will launch with the start of Season 1 Reloaded, while the others will be added during the typical playlist rotations on any given Thursday. W
While players are already familiar with headquarters and all or nothing, Team Gunfight is described as a new 6v6 experience which gives everyone randomized loadouts every round.
Vortex Event & Map Reskins
As DETONATED covered recently, the Vortex event will launch prior to Season 1 Reloaded containing three zombified map reskins for Scrapyard, Quarry and Rust. The Vortex LTM can then be played on these three maps, putting players in a free for all and battle for the Ray Gun.

An XP focussed event will also be released with Vortex, encouraging players to purchase the upcoming Ultra skin with the Horseman Tracer pack. The bundle costs 2400CP, while the event requires players to earn 213,000 XP to unlock all free cosmetics, including an animated cameo. Using the Horseman Ultra skin will provide an XP boost, similar to the previous COD endowment, Makarov and Dune XP events.
Zombies Content Update
As of now, not much is known about what content Zombies is set to receive in Season 1 Reloaded. It’s possible that just like DMZ, only a limited amount of content gets added during the mid season, to make for a bigger content drop in Season 2.

Treyarch confirmed that a new fortress warlord boss named Dokkaebi is set to arrive during the mid season. It’s unclear if Dokkaebi is tied to new ACT 4 missions, or if its just a POI update on Urzikstan. Leaked content such as Exfil streaks, a wallet and additional schematics were posted on Twitter, but the release date for such content is currently unknown.
Warzone Content Update
Surprisingly, everything for Urzikstan. Season 1 has gotten added apart from the addition of Champion’s Quest and two additional features. It’s likely that additional weapon balancing changes and stability improvements will be added to Urzikstan.

DMZ will seemingly live on not just through the successor, MW3 Zombies but even Warzone battle royale during the mid season update. Few details are known but a weapon case as well as a covert exfil are expected to be added to Urzikstan in January.

Vondel Lockdown
As of January 4th, Vondel Lockdown has been added back into rotation with a Warzone playlist update.

Ranked Play (Multiplayer)
Treyarch is once again taking lead for Ranked Play in MW3 multiplayer, as the mode is confirmed to drop during the mid season update. While Treyarch IS likely to lead another iteration of Warzone Ranked Play, the release date for that Urzikstan experience is unknown.

Ranked Play for both Multiplayer and Warzone are likely to be similar to the MW2 iteration of both modes, considering Treyarch has taken lead on the competitive scene over the last few years.
Around 15 rewards have leaked for MW3 Ranked Play, including a look at some of the operator unlocks which are set to release in January:

HRM-9
Although the initial Season 1 blogpost confirmed the HRM-9 would be added via an Armory unlock, the new SMG ended up being released through the Classified Battlepass sector instead. Four challenges must be completed before the fifth HVT challenge is unlocked.
