Season 6 of Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone begins on September 27th, at 9am PT, 11am CT, 12pm EST. It’s rumored to include several halloween themed crossovers as well as fan favorite weapons from MW2019 inside of Modern Warfare 2 & Warzone. With that being said, take all of this info with a grain of salt as not much has been revealed for Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 Season 6, this is just a collection of confirmed and rumored content launching for each mode.
All roadmap screenshots were taken from our concept Modern Warfare 2 Season 5 Roadmap, to help visualize the content in an easy way.
THE FINAL SEASON BEFORE MODERN WARFARE 3
Call of Duty confirmed that the Season 6 will be final new season before Modern Warfare 3 releases on November 10th. Activision acknowledged the unannounced sixth season during the recent Season 5 Reloaded blogpost. Modern Warfare 2 was previously rumored to only have five seasons, as five raid episodes were originally planned to conclude the post launch story, according to Infinity Ward.

MULTIPLAYER CONTENT
According to an Activision data breach last year, Season 6 of MWII is expected to add just two more 6v6 core maps and one battle map into Multiplayer. It’s possible that the leaked data breach is now outdated information, as the details weren’t 100% accurate for the content we ended up seeing in Seasons 3-5. For those concerned about 6v6, Ground War or Gunfight, it’ll be shocking if those modes don’t get support to end Modern Warfare 2’s cycle on a high note. Infinity Ward previously claimed that the final DLC Multiplayer maps will have a focus on competitive play. There’s also several areas from Campaign, including the Prison from the “Prison Break” mission, which could work as a Multiplayer environment.

New Modes For MWII
Prior to the launch of Season 4, two new modes leaked prematurely via the usual dataminers on Twitter. The first mode, Havoc, released at the beginning of Season 5, while the second mode known as Rupture has yet to see the light of day. The mode is rumored to have a focus on a specific Juggernaut who gets selected at random in every match. Gameplay leaked early for both Havoc and Rupture which of course didn’t and still don’t reflect the final release of this content. It’s also inevitable we see Halloween inspired LTMs for Multiplayer, as we did for Modern Warfare (2019) and Black Ops Cold War.

WARZONE CONTENT
The bonus Fort resurgence map, which got delayed until September 6th after initially being marketed as mid season launch content, may be the final Warzone 2 map until the MW3 integration in December. As it currently stands, Warzone 2.0 is now up to speed with nearly all of the QOL updates and features that we had at the end of Vanguard’s Warzone cycle. During Season 3, Decontamination stations were confirmed to be returning, but never launched. The only LTMs we have yet to see in Warzone 2 include Scopes and Scattered guns, as well as 200 player Quads.

POI Updates to All Maps
Apart from the expected Halloween themed changes to each Warzone map, Al Mazrah in particular may receive some changes to account for the damaged Zaya Observatory, which was permanently left open after the launch of Season 5 Reloaded. We recently reported on mysterious loading screens that popped up, depicting unannounced Zaya Observatory changes as well. As of now, it’s expected that the secret chemical bunkers will remain open moving forward.

THE HAUNTING OF AL MAZRAH.. AND VONDEL
While Vanguard skipped out on a Haunting event last year, Modern Warfare 2 is set to receive a massive Halloween themed update to make up for it. The latest details about the upcoming Haunting can be found here. As a quick run down, both Al Mazrah and Vondel are rumored to see Halloween themed changes. Other content includes:
- Lilith and Butcher related pop ups and secrets (Diablo 4 Collaboration)
- Hell Train Update (Replacement For Regular Train in WZ)
- Zombies in Multiplayer & Ghosts in Warzone (Potentially Separate Playlists)
- 4 Licensed Operators, Available Via Bundles
- Zombies in Spaceland” UFO ship sounds followed by an announcer track repeating numbers in a sequence
- “Nun II” composer Jason Graves is reportedly working on the score for the event
- Mummy boss, reportedly connected to Treyarch Zombies
- Seasonal Challenge Event with spooky rewards
- Halloween Themed Skins (For Calistio, Kleo and Fender)
ALL 6 NEW Operators Unlocks
As we previously reported in Season 5, two operators known as Ivan and Nolan were leaked by Twitter dataminers. These individuals were seen in the Shadow Siege event cutscene, and are Konni operatives who’ve infiltrated Shadow Company. It’s likely that these operators will be the Season 6 Battlepass characters, which could imply a Konni themed final season. Also as apart of the Haunting update, here are the Halloween themed characters who will become playable operators, likely towards the middle of the season:
- Ash Williams – Evil Dead
- Skeletor – Masters of The Universe
- Alucard – Hellsing
- Spawn

CONDEMNED GHOST & WARZONE MOBILE RELEASE
Despite the Warzone Mobile team previously confirmed the Condemned Ghost skin would remain exclusive, leakers online discovered the skin’s functionality for MW2 & Warzone. The rumored release date of Warzone Mobile is November 10th, the same day as Modern Warfare 3. With the Condemned Ghost skin being found with Season 5 Reloaded, it’s more than the likely the skin will be released as apart of Season 6, to those who pre registered and linked their Activision account to Warzone Mobile.
NEW ANIMATED CAMO CHALLENGE EVENT
Following the release of Season 5 Reloaded, leakers on Twitter discovered a new animated camo which does not currently have any unlock requirements. It’s likely that this camo is being saved for a seasonal challenge event, or will be released through other means that have yet to be revealed. If only this was the camo we unlocked for grinding the difficult tasks required to unlock the DMZ mastery camo! It’s still unknown what the fate is of the Task Force 141 polished camo which was the Faction Showdown reward if Shadow Company had lost. Season 6 may also introduce another vehicle camo event, as we saw with the mid season 5 update.
NEW WEAPONS & CLASSIFIED BATTLEPASS SECTOR
DETONATED just reported on the three DLC weapons that got leaked on Twitter. Players should expect the Bruen MK9 light machine gun (first DLC LMG for MWII) and the ISO 9 submachine gun, both of which are from Modern Warfare 2019. These weapons are likely to be featured in the Season 6 Battlepass, while the Dual Kamas are halloween themed melee weapons which may be saved for either a Classified Battlepass sector for mid season, or the Haunting challenge event. Weapons such as the PKM light machine gun and a bullpup rifle were previously rumored for MWII, which are likely being saved for Modern Warfare 3 instead.
DMZ & IT’S UNCERTAIN FUTURE
We saw DMZ receive a healthy amount of updates in Season 5, but nothing on the scale of a new weapon case or exclusion zone. With the rumor that DMZ support will come to a halt after Season 6, it’s exciting to think about how Infinity Ward may want to end the mode on a bang, to give DMZ fans a sendoff for the short lived mode. Expect faction mission refreshes, additional arsenal upgrades and maybe secret barter recipes on specific exclusion zones. Could we ever see Building 21 taken off of it’s weekend rotation, especially if DMZ support is meant to end before Modern Warfare 3? Fans like myself would also love to see more weapon mods added, like the Heated Madness blueprint from Season 3.
