Treyarch has officially unveiled Black Ops 6 Zombies following the gameplay reveal of Terminus. Various teasers were shown for Liberty Falls, the second round based map that’s releasing at launch. The COD NEXT broadcast begins on August 28th, where creators including myself will be getting hands on with Black Ops 6 Zombies. Here’s everything you need to know about the second round based map, Liberty Falls which takes place in West Virginia.
Liberty Falls Introduction
In the latest Call of Duty blog, Treyarch provided the a description of the second Round Based Zombies map in Black Ops 6: Liberty Falls.
Footage from an incursion at a once-quaint, now-overrun West Virginian town also gives you the first glimpse at the second launch map. Seemingly the epicenter of a Dark Aether outbreak, chaos is crawling through Liberty Falls, with much of the local population now succumbing to the results of a second, simultaneous dimensional breach.
While Terminus has been regarded as the largest Zombies experience Treyarch has ever made, Liberty Falls appears to be more on par with Die Maschine as far as scale goes. The map narratively takes place at the same time as Terminus.
Liberty Falls Official Trailer Reveal
Just announced today via Treyarch’s Twitter and YouTube Channel, Liberty Falls cinematic intro trailer has released! It features Richtofen in Liberty Falls in the 1990’s discovering the breach and news of Samantha becoming unstable before being consumed and taken into the Dark Aether by Sam, before it cuts to The Forsaken being used a power station and shortly after being possessed by Samantha herself.
New Intel Radio & Tranzit
Recently teased on Call of Duty’s official Twitter, you can send the phrase ‘LIBERTY FALLS’ to Call of Duty on WhatsApp for an intel radio relating to Liberty Falls and how Director Richtofen is slipping:
“Dr Parocles Panos, Project Janus energy research division. It has become abundantly clear Director Richtofen is slipping. If we fail, it will all be down to Richtofen and his hubris.”
It’s currently unclear who Dr Panos is and if he will play a big role in the story of Black Ops 6, but they will surely be referenced or brought up in future intel or even cutscenes.
First Gameplay Teaser Clip
At the end of the gameplay trailer for Black Ops 6 Zombies, a short glimpse of Liberty Falls is unveiled, once again confirming a showcase at the COD NEXT event. Creators will be able to get hands on with this round based map while live streaming to their respective audiences.
The gameplay clip gives fans an early look of the West Virginian town, including a church that takes place within the Dark Aether! Fans were shocked to see the return of the jetgun, which hasn’t been seen since Tranzit in Black Ops 2.
It’s unclear if the jetgun is a buildable as it was in Black Ops 2, or if it’ll just be a standard wonder weapon that you can pack a punch up to three times. With plenty of nostalgic elements from the old aether story, Black Ops 6 seems to have plenty of surprises in store for hardcore zombies fans.
The Cross Map Easter Egg
Treyarch has had zombies maps that place at the same time as one another in the past. Notably, phones on Ascension could be listened to which provide quotes from the ‘Five’ crew as those maps took place simultaneously. The same kind of crossover happened on Nuketown Zombies, as Richthofen’s grand scheme from Moon took place on round 25 which changed the zombies eye color.
With Liberty Falls and Terminus taking place simultaneously, it’s unclear if our main crew will make their way to West Virginia for what could be a post launch map update, or if events will take place off screen. The main crew will interact with one another on Terminus and may come to realize the whereabouts of Richthofen point towards Liberty Falls.
