Battlefront 3 is NOT Happening… Anytime Soon

Despite mounting pleas and surging player counts in the latest entry: It appears Battlefront 3 won’t be happening anytime soon, if ever! Over the last few weeks fans have been spreading the word far and wide that they want the next entry to EA’s Star Wars Battlefront games. The sudden demand no doubt having been brought on largely by the recent series finale of Andor breathing fresh air into the franchise.

The final episode was received extremely positively by fans, some going as far to call it the best thing Star Wars has put out in years, leaving fans chomping at the bit for more material from the Galaxy far, far away; leading to a massive influx of renewed interest in EA’s Battlefront, with tons of people either dropping into for the first time, or dusting off their old copies to load back into Battlefront 2. All this has spawned all time highs for the games player counts totaling upwards of 300,000 concurrent players at peak hours!

Battlefront 2 Player sparks comment from EA Entertainment

Unfortunately in the face of the mounting pressure from fans, and word over the past week from old developers wanting to “get the band back together!”, and Andor actor ‘Muhannad Ben Amor’ even chiming in and showing his support to the cause – it appears Battlefront 3 won’t be happening, at least not from EA; as IGN has recently reported on an internal email from EA suggesting everything may have been for nothing, showcasing layoffs, cancellations, and new focus for the company.

“In an email sent to staff from EA Entertainment president Laura Miele, Miele said that these changes, alongside other recent cancellations and layoffs, are being done to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities.” The IGN article went on to say: “The company is focusing on a small handful of franchises going forward: Battlefield, The Sims, Skate, and Apex Legends. Miele also reassures EA will continue to invest in its Iron Man game at Motive and the third Star Wars: Jedi game, as well as it maintain its mobile business despite today’s cuts.”

Despite all this some fans aren’t relenting, citing the ongoing development of EA’s Jedi Survivor 3, and Star Wars: Zero Company as reason to stay hopeful.
