XO1 Deep Vault Guide in DMZ (Modern Warfare 4 Season 1)

The Deep Vault is XO1’s treasure trove for new & exclusive loot in MW4’s DMZ. There are a few different ways you enter the Deep Vault within DMZ’s XO1. With new foes on the loose, players will have to fight for their new spoils, all while tracking down the means to access this new loot. We’re going over everything we know about accessing Deep Vault in Modern Warfare 4.

Obtaining the Keycard

To enter the Deep Vault, you will need any Deep Vault related keycard, which can be obtained in two ways at the moment. The first and easiest method is to eliminate The Captain Commander, which is pretty much just a Colossus. The quickest and easiest way to eliminate any Juggernaut-type in DMZ is to stick them with a shock stick, then follow up with a bunch of Thermite charges. Once The Captain has been eliminated a guaranteed Deep Vault keycard will drop.

The second method you’ll need to first get access to an Executive Room keycard. To do this, you need to locate a blank keycard & use it at a printer. This will cause the blank keycard to become an Executive Room keycard. Take this keycard to C5V within XO1. Locate the Executive Room, on the second floor, near the statue. This will be found in the Admin Offices. Directly up the stairs on the left side, the two door room.

After you’ve grabbed the Deep Vault keycard off of the desk, make your way to the Deep Vault itself. Head into the Deep Vault, be aware of enemy AI, turrets and potentially other players, and swipe your keycard at the gate near the back of the room. This will cause the Vault door to open up. Enter the small room and press the elevator button. While you wait for the elevator to arrive, be sure to hold the opened Vault door in case any AI or real players make their way over. Keep in mind the Vault door will shut itself back up after a small window of time, the only way of it being opened again being another player with a keycard swiping it like you did, or pressing the red button within the room you’re in.

The Deep Vault

Once you’ve entered the Vault using the Deep Vault 406 key, you’ll enter an elevator & head down into a 4-floor corridor/room. Each floor of the room will have smaller rooms that can only be opened using their respective Deep Vault Cards.

  • 101
  • 104
  • 106 – Dropped by Lieutenant Tae-Hyun – You can find Tae-Hyun’s trusty Shotgun Geogyeom within a crate, along with other valuable loot.
  • 201
  • 202
  • 205
  • 301- Dropped by Commander ‘The Captain’
  • 406 – Found in Executive Room (Admin Offices)
  • Core Room – Unlocked via triggering a defense at the top of the room. Expect heavy resistance.

On the bottom floor within the Deep Vault you can find the Core Room, sealed off and two guards standing in front of it. Head over there, eliminate any AI in your way and press the button of the Core Room.
A side-ops mini-quest now starts, prompting you to head all the way upstairs to the control room of the section where you need to press a button to start overriding to unlock the Core Room. Pressing that button starts a defense wave that will spawn heavy AI, while you need to hold your ground (or at least 1 player) within that control room until the timer is up.
When the timer is over, head all the way back down and press the same red button you pressed earlier on to now open up the Core Room.

Within that Core Room you can find several weapon lockers, a DRC weapon locker, computers, loot chests including a golden Commander chest and a Argonaut suit.
The Argonaut suit is guaranteed to be spawning there every time you enter the Deep Vault Core Room, which is a killstreak that lets you put on a Juggernaut suit – potentially the best killstreak in the entirety of DMZ.

After looting it’s time to get back out. The elevator you took down is no longer working as the power to it has been cut off, instead you will need to exit through the elevator to the right of that. Head over to it, hold the button prompt to pull open the elevator doors, and then zipline back up.
You will end up into the same locked off Vault room you called the elevator in, so keep in mind real players could be camping either within or outside of that locked off door. AI is guaranteed to be camping further down the hallway, as you opening the Core Room started a X01 map-wide alert. You can tell if real players are nearby based off gunshot sounds, as either they or the AI will be firing upon eachother.

With all the loot now secured in your backpack, it’s time to head over to the nearest Exfil. The Exfil locations are randomized each time, as the majority of the Point Of Interest (P.O.I.) locations are also randomized when loading into the map, the Deep Vault being one of the few that isn’t.
If you have a keycard for it you can also unlock a Emergency Exfil, which can be crafted at 3D Printers using 2 CPUs, 4 Printed Circuit Boards, and 8 Control Units.
