After the announcement of Modern Warfare 3, pre-order pages went up on multiple platforms for MW3. However, there’s been a scare with the platforms that Modern Warfare III will be releasing onto due to the Xbox page for MWIII. Here’s what you need to know:
NO LAST-GEN RELEASE THIS YEAR?
You may have seen it by now; the Xbox page for Modern Warfare III only lists the included platforms as “Xbox Series X | S” with no mention of Xbox One platforms. Even though the amount of Next-Gen consoles such as the Xbox Series X | S and the PS5 has increased tremendously since launch, Last-Gen platforms are still what the majority have.
So does this mean MWIII won’t be on Last-Gen platforms? Thankfully, DETONATED has the answer for you thanks to UmanaFNBR on Twitter:
“Hello again, Thank you for getting back to us with more clarification and bringing your concern to our attention, to simply answer your question, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3, developed by Sledgehammer Games is needed finally announced itself in a teaser, also revealing a release date! On November 10, 2023, available on Xbox One and Xbox Series.”

How real exactly is this confirmation? Very. The trailer for MWIII that was uploaded to the official PlayStation account uses “PS4 Game” in both its title, and hashtags.
This isn’t just for algorithm sake that they included the PS4 hashtag. PS5 exclusive games don’t include a PS4 hashtag. Of course it’s something they (Sony) want to promote more due to it being their latest console release.
WHEN WILL CALL OF DUTY BECOME NEXT-GEN ONLY?
There’s no official response, but judging how majority have yet to make the move to Last-Gen; it’s safe to assume that it’ll be a few more titles. Don’t expect it to be 2024 or 2025 at the least until that happens, but that’s just a guess.
