MW3 keeps bringing the heat with new Open Combat Missions for the Campaign of MWIII that is sure to please fans of the franchise. Are you ready to play Modern Warfare III the way you want to play it? Modern Warfare 3 has appeared as nothing more than the game the fans have been asking for. Here’s what you need to know:
WHAT ARE OPEN COMBAT MISSIONS
Imagine you’re playing through your favorite Call of Duty Campaign. You get to a part you really want to test and see how you can approach it differently, and you come to discover that you could’ve entirely avoided a group of enemies, or that you could’ve snuck into a vent and bypassed EVERYTHING. That’s exactly what Open Combat Missions are in MWIII.
There’s still fixed objectives, meaning you HAVE to end the mission by completing an objective (For example: “Kill Makarov” “Defuse the Bomb” “Save Gaz” etc.)
This time around though, you don’t have to follow a specific path to that objective, you now get to choose how to accomplish your mission!
If any of our readers have ever played any of the Dishonored Franchise; Open Combat Missions appear to have a similar layout to the Dishonored Games! In Dishonored, you have an objective you have to complete to progress, but how you choose to reach and complete your objective is completely up to you. Depending what path you took or what side quest you decided to depends on how and where you ended up completing your objective.
Will Modern Warfare III have an in-depth level-pacing like Dishonored? It’s too early to say, but if these missions are as interactive as they’re claiming, there’s a good chance that you could have a different experience than your friends!
NOTE: Dishonored also has a good and bad way to how you effect the world and in turn will open you to the possibility of many different endings. It’s unlikely that Modern Warfare III will give you the same option even though games like Black Ops 2 and Black Ops Cold War had options like these. It appears MWIII will have a linear story, but a creative and interactive way of completing that story.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT WAYS WE CAN PLAY
There are numerous ways to complete an Open Combat Mission:
- Stealth
- Guns a-Blazing
- Looting
- Parkour
- Use Your Loadout
- Enemy Ordinance
- On Foot
- Parachuting
- In Water
- Vehicles
- Killstreaks
- Interactable Items
