MW3 ZOMBIES ROUND BASED UPDATE, RELEASE DATE & MORE | SEASON 4

Season 4 of Modern Warfare 3 Zombies is coming, and with it comes a different content drop than we’ve been given all year. Usually, Modern Warfare Zombies gives us a new story mission and schematics along with it, but for Season 4 of Modern Warfare III, players will be getting a fan-requested feature for MWIII Zombies. Unstable Rifts are the newest edition coming to Season 4 of MW3 Zombies on May 29th! Ready to learn more? Here’s what you need to know:

SEASON 4 ZOMBIES UNSTABLE RIFTS

For Season 4, the content given is a change from previous seasons. There won’t be any Dark Aether Rifts or New Schematics from the looks of things. It appears they want to save anything new for Season 5. Instead, we will be given Unstable Rifts which will be accesible through the map itself as a marked rift (similar to an Act Mission or Koshei Complex from DMZ).

THE VOID OBJECTIVE

For those that played the two Vanguard Zombies Objective Based maps Der Anfang and Terra Maledicta will remember the Void objective which is a smaller version of the Round Based Zombies mode.

In Vanguard Zombies, the Void objective would spawn in after completing a few objectives and would allow you to play through normal round based zombies in a section of the map you were playing (ex – Der Anfang = Shi No Numa).

This is NOT a full Round Based experience, but is a lite version of it instead. You will still proceed through rounds and will have access to perks, Pack-A-Punch, and the mystery box, but in a much smaller survival area. You can also leave the objective after a couple of rounds.

CHALLENGES IN UNSTABLE RIFTS

There are strings tied to the Unstable Rifts as found by alanthethird_90 on X/Twitter:

  • Phase Portal
  • Survive Phase
  • Rift Phase Completed
  • Rift Phase Spawned
  • Unstable Rift Completed

Not a ton to do in these, but if you’re tired of the usual Modern Warfare Zombies loop, this may be a good break for you since it’s, like mentioned before, Round Based. It’s unknown at the time what will be the playable area for these rifts; it’ll either be somewhere in Urzikstan, Al Mazrah Rifts, or somewhere else.

WHY DO WE HAVE UNSTABLE RIFTS NOW?

Some of you many wonder why we have these rifts so late into MW3. There’s two main answers that could both be utilized in why. Firstly, Treyarch is no longer working on Modern Warfare Zombies. They stepped away from Modern Warfare Zombies in Season 1, and since then has had their role filled by Infinity Ward.

Secondly, it’s a possible way for them to divert the usual content that’s been reused and rehashed all year. Instead of getting the same Act Mission and 4 Schematics to earn loop, you can now fight Zombies in a replayable section of the mode to hold fans over until the next story mission.
