Modern Warfare 3 brought us Verdansk in the form of the campaign for MW3. Now, with new events coming from Fortnite bringing back their OG map for an entire season, we could see Verdansk coming back to Warzone for MWIII. Modern Warfare III just keeps getting better. Here’s what you need to know:
VERDANSK IS ALREADY IN MW3
If you played the campaign of Modern Warfare 3, you would know that there are missions set directly in Verdansk itself (Operation: 627, Flashback, & Gora Dam). Meaning that handful parts of Verdansk are FOR SURE already made in the new engine.

Porting those over to a full feature Warzone map could be much easier than before considering how tunable the new Warzone application is. Remember that the new Warzone was created with the idea of being able to easily add new content, The MW3 update coming in December is not only adding the “Urzikstan” map, and all of the MW3 movement, but also all of it’s weapons with cosmetics!
VERDANSK’S RETURN IS ALREADY PLANNED
During Call of Duty NEXT 2023: Rebirth Island and Fortune’s Keep were announced to be returning to the current Warzone experience in 2024.
Yes, you read this right 👀

Fortune’s Keep will return early next year and Rebirth Island will follow later in 2024, making it our most diverse map rotation in Call of Duty: #Warzone pic.twitter.com/AkL7J07Twi
Shortly after that announcement, Metaphor on Twitter tweeted that Verdansk would be returning as well. Metaphor has been mentioned before on DETONATED by accurately leaking information about what Urzikstan would look like and play like. As of Call of Duty NEXT, he was 100% right, so perhaps he got more info the day of the announcement.
Verdansk is also coming back.

Verdansk could be slated for a Summer 2024 release in Warzone. This would pin it for a Season 3 – 4 release.
FORTNITE’S “OG SEASON”
In case you haven’t heard, the popular Battle Royale game “Fortnite” released a brand new season that was entirely based around their original BR map from 2018. It was an instant hit; Fortnite had 44 MILLION players in it’s first weekend of the season, and it’s having 1 million – 5 million concurrent players since the season launch.
Way to start things off with a big bang 💥

We're blown away by the response to #FortniteOG. Yesterday was the biggest day in Fortnite’s history with over 44.7 MILLION players jumping in and 102 MILLION hours of play.
To all Fortnite players, OG and new, THANK YOU!
Call of Duty HAS to have seen these numbers. If Fortnite bringing back it’s most popular map can explode their numbers, imagine what it could do to Warzone by bringing back the fan-favorite Verdansk. If it wasn’t a for sure idea as mentioned prior, it’s definitely on Call of Duty’s radar now. Although, it’s possible it won’t be a permanent return; Fortnite’s OG map is only staying for a month. This could be a major factor in why so many people are still playing it after the season launch, so Call of Duty may follow the same path.
#CallofDuty: Verdansk might come back after this…

💥 Given the MASSIVE success of #FortniteOG recently — every game will 100% be on the nostalgia train going forward.
MW3 Campaign already has a lot of Verdansk, I wonder if anything else will be done with it. pic.twitter.com/sXreGoulN6
