Season 5 for Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone is adding in three separate challenge events themed around Task Force 141 and Shadow Company.
What is The Faction Showdown Event?
Infinity Ward confirmed that from August 4th to August 16th, players can access the events tab and choose which faction they’d prefer to join: Shadow Company or Task Force 141. You’re then tasked with completing one base challenge, followed by a series of faction-specific challenges to earn all event rewards. Players are allowed to switch sides during the event to earn all exclusive rewards for both factions. Like we saw with the Assault on Vondel challenge event, there will be a community wide kill tracker for both factions, which will determine which faction “wins” when the event ends. Regardless of which faction gets the most kills before the mid season update, all players will be rewarded with an operator skin for the winning side.
All Faction Showdown Challenges
The studio has revealed a couple challenges and details for the upcoming Faction Showdown event. Article updates will be made as we learn more information on all the challenges and reward requirements.
- Get 50 Operator Kills (Base Challenge For Both Factions)
- Perform Finishing Moves (Task Force 141)
- Get Kills Using Melee Weapons (Task Force 141)
- Get Longshots Using Battle Rifles (Task Force 141)
- Get Kills From Behind While Using SMGs (Shadow Company)
- Get Kills Using Launchers (Shadow Company)
- Get Kills Using Lethal Equipment (Shadow Company)
All Faction Showdown Rewards
Season 5’s blogpost and launch trailer provided some insight on the rewards that can be earned from the Faction Showdown event. There will roughly be around 13 total rewards if a player decides to complete both faction’s challenges and take part in the community event. The list of rewards that we know of is as follows:
- Calling Card & Emblem (For Completing The Base Challenge)
- Tier Skips (Faction Specific)
- Vehicle Skins (Faction Specific)
- Weapon Blueprint (Faction Specific)
- Free Operator Skin For Soap or Horangi (Community Challenge)
- Universal Weapon Camo (Community Challenge)
- One Hour Double Battlepass XP Token (Community Challenge)
Additional Vehicle and Camo Challenge Events (In Season)
Although the Faction Showdown event is already packed with various challenges and rewards, the studio also confirmed two more challenge events releasing during Season 5. It’s unclear if both of these events are being combined into one, or if they’ll release separately once Season 5 Reloaded drops. Infinity Ward described a series of tasks to complete with vehicles, followed by in an depth camo challenge with “suitably impressive rewards”. These additional challenge events will likely follow the theme of Task Force 141 and Shadow Company.
