The Third Season of Modern Warfare 3 is provide fans with plenty of healthy and highly requested content, MW3 Season 3 is rumored to release on Wednesday, April 3rd. Season Three content updates are expected for Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone. Modern Warfare III will receive new maps, weapons, operators and more. Here’s everything we know about MWIII Season 3, launching at 9am PT, 11am CT and 12pm EST on April 3rd:

MW3 SEASON 3 START TIMES & DOWNLOAD
According to the in game battlepass timer, MW3 Season 3 is scheduled to launch on April 3rd. So far, Modern Warfare III has been on track with every new seasonal drop, without any delays to the beginning or middle of any season. If April 3rd does stick, then expect all content to become playable at 9am PT, 11am CT, and 12pm EST.

As we’ve seen with previous seasonal updates, the preload for new content should become available first on Playstation and Battlenet around two days before the season begins. Around April 1st or April 2nd is when players should be able to download any necessary updates to prepare for Season 3.
MW3 SEASON 3 FILE SIZE & PRELOAD
Judging from the download size of previous MW3 Seasons, the file should be approximately 16-30GB in size, which is subject to change. While Warzone is receiving a new resurgence map, MW3 Zombies is also expected to receive an extremely large amount of content which may increase the file size.
During the last few seasons of MW2, larger than usual title updates ended up decreasing the overall game size in exchange for needing to download 20-40GB of data for the new content. It’s likely that future MW3 seasons will have significantly smoother download windows than MW2 did.
MAIN BATTLEPASS OPERATOR – ????
The main operator (Tier 0 and Tier 100) is currently unknown for MW3 and Warzone Season 3. Codenames for three original operators were posted on Twitter by the usual dataminers, which are as follows:
- Romeo
- Summer
- Fall
It’s not confirmed that each of these three operators are for Season 3, as the “seasonal” code names may imply they are operators for Season 5 and 6, which take place in Summer or Fall.
RUMORED OPERATOR – MILENA ROMANOVA
First seen in the Vondel cinematic and last seen in the MW3 campaign, Milena Romanova is reportedly coming to the battlefields as a playable operator. It’s unclear if this character will be featured in the battlepass or in a future bundle.

LEAKED OPERATOR SKIN – DETAINED
Images of a prison break operator skin were posted on Twitter, which may be tied to future bundles or the Season 3 battlepass. The operator was also seen in an official Season 1 Reloaded promotional image, which may been a hint towards the “prison” theme of Season 3, in which we see the return of Rebirth Island.

BLACKCELL OPERATOR – UNKNOWN
This BlackCell Operator for Season 3 is TBD
WEAPONS
Currently, a number of ranged weapons leaked out for MW3 and Warzone Season 3. Two of these weapons were last seen in Advanced Warfare, while two are completely original. This isn’t the final list of weapons for Season 3.
- BAL (Assault Rifle)
- MORS (Sniper Rifle)
- MP9 (Full Auto Pistol)
- Compound Bow (???)

ORIGINAL 6V6 MULTIPLAYER MAPS
Sledgehammer confirmed that the first two seasons of MW3 will contain three original 6v6 maps each, not including content for modes like Gunfight or Ground War. With just six original maps left, it’s unclear if we’ll get more than one or two 6v6 maps in Season 3

GUNFIGHT MAPS (TBD)
Gunfight didn’t receive any new maps in MW3 Season 2, so it’s likely we’ll either get some original spaces or carry forward maps added in Season 3.
GROUND WAR, INVASION & WAR MODE
Season 2 blessed ‘War Mode’ fans with another map after Season 1 didn’t. While two more war maps have been leaked for post launch, it’s also likely we’ll end up seeing new Ground War and Invasion spaces pulled from Urzikstan.
UPCOMING WAR MODE MAPS
One of these code names represents the recent Operation Tin Man mission from Season 2, while the other two missions are unreleased. Dataminers haven’t yet revealed which mission of the following list has already come out:
- Operation Avalanche
- Operation Exodus
- Operation Kuzka

More information than expected has surfaced for the MWZ Season 3 update. MW3 Zombies is looking to add more content this spring, compared to what was added for the first two seasons. The upcoming Season 3 Zombies content is rumored to contain but isn’t limited to:
NEW ACT 4 STORY MISSION
Rumors suggest a new story mission and cinematic in season 3 are set to focus on Ava, going into a new Dark Aether rift and cleansing artifacts. A new boss known as the ‘Champion’ is also said to make an appearance.
The next Dark Aether rift will reportedly take players to another section of Al Mazrah, in the form of the Hydroelectric point of interest:

NEW PVP MODE, SCHEMATICS & WEAPON CASES
For the last few months, a PvPvE mode for MW3 Zombies has been leaked, with little details being known about when the mode will release. Following the Season 2 reloaded patch, new information was datamined about how the mode may work.

Apart from being able to kill other players, and possibly steal their loot, Warlords are also said to make an appearance and may even drop new weapon cases with schematics. These warlords may just be the same ones present on Urzikstan, with an additional challenge of having to face other players while going after these bosses.
WARZONE REBIRTH ISLAND UPDATE
As of now, very little is known about the future of Warzone, apart from the next resurgence map that’s slated for Season 3. Raven spent a majority of last year bringing Warzone 2 up to speed with all quality of life changes that the first iteration of Warzone had after three years.

Urzikstan, Fortunes Keep and Rebirth are likely to receive exciting limited time modes, point of interest changes and surprise quality of life updates. The specialist perk package is currently rumored to be releasing with the mid season 3 update in early May.

SEASONAL PRESTIGE
Following a similar system to Modern Warfare II, Season 1 allows you to level up past Rank 55 into Prestige Ranks that persist across seasons. Beginning in Season 3, players can proceed past Rank 450, to 650 which will be the equivalent of prestige 13. Achieving this unlocks rewards and a set of challenges — complete those challenges to unlock multiple exclusive Calling Cards, with separate sets of Cards for both Multiplayer and Zombies.

At the beginning of Season 3, you can continue ranking up from wherever you landed in the first season.. This allows players to catch up in later seasons, while also not resetting the progress of anyone who reached the Max Rank during that season.
