Modern Warfare 3 Season 2 Start Times, Content & Download

The Second Season of Modern Warfare 3 is provide fans with plenty of healthy and highly requested content, MW3 Season 2 is rumored to release on Wednesday, February 7th. Season Two content updates are expected for Multiplayer, Zombies and Warzone. Here’s everything we know about MWIII Season 02.

MW3 Season 2 Start Times & Download

According to the in game battlepass timer, MW3 Season 2 is scheduled to launch on February 7th. In recent years, the second season has often been delayed until the 14th or 15th of February. If February 7th does stick, then expect all content to become playable at 9am PT, 11am CT, and 12pm EST.

As we’ve seen with previous seasonal updates, the preload for new content should become available first on Playstation around two days before the season begins. Around February 5th or 6th is when players should be able to download any necessary updates to prepare for Season 02.

MW3 Season 2 File Size & Preload

Judging from the download size of MW2 Season 1 this year, the file should be approximately 30-35GB in size, which is subject to change. While Warzone may be receiving a new resurgence map, MW3 Multiplayer and Zombies are both expected to receive large amounts of content which may increase the file size.

During the last few seasons of MW2, larger than usual title updates ended up decreasing the overall game size in exchange for needing to download 20-40GB of data for the new content. It’s likely that future MW3 seasons will have significantly smoother download windows than MW2 did.

MAIN BATTLEPASS OPERATOR – LASWELL

The main operator (Tier 0 and Tier 100) will reportedly be Kate Laswell from the MW3 Campaign! She will come with Blackcell Variants as well, if you choose to purchase it that battlepass bundle.

Not only did leakers find references to Laswell being playable, but Call of Duty themselves teased her player icon on a recent Threads post:

RUMORED OPERATOR – MILENA ROMANOVA

Ground War, Invasion & War Mode

As of now, no new maps have been revealed for Ground War, Invasion or the War mode in Modern Warfare 3. MW2 did receive a number of new ground war maps throughout it’s life cycle, all of which were based out of Al Mazrah. It’s likely that we’ll see plenty of sections from Urzikstan added for the aforementioned modes throughout the post launch.

THE WALKING DEAD CROSSOVER (??)

Dataminers reportedly found references to operator skins for Rick and Michonne Grimes, both of which are scheduled to appear in the upcoming AMC spinoff: The Ones Who Live, which is a Walking Dead spinoff series. While the show is slated to drop in February, it’s likely this Call of Duty collaboration will launch in Season 2 to line up with the release of the show.

Zombies Content Updates

Not much is known about Season 2 Zombies content, but leakers have shared a few details which give us an idea of where MWZ is headed in future title updates. A schematic is expected to release for the new V-R11 wonder weapon, while one also leaked for the Blood Burner Aether Bike.

Treyarch recently confirmed that ACT 4 will receive various updates throughout post launch, which may or may not include additional story missions with cutscenes. It’s unknown if ACT 4 is the final act, or just the last one for Urzikstan exclusively.

Several new warlord icons also leaked, suggesting multiple fortress updates are coming to MW3 Zombies. These warlords may be exclusively released for Urzikstan, or other exclusion zones that have yet to be announced.

Warzone Content Drop

As of now, very little is known about the future of Warzone for the remainder of MW3’s life cycle. Raven spent a majority of last year bringing Warzone 2 up to speed with all quality of life changes that the first iteration of Warzone had after three years. Urzikstan is likely to receive additional LTMs and unique POI updates.

Warzone Season 2

Fortunes Keep is slated to return in early 2024, while Rebirth Island has been described as a late 2024 release. These two resurgence maps may cycle out Ashika Island and Vondel respectively, but will certainly sit next to Urzikstan until the next big map integrates with Black Ops 2024.

Warzone Ranked Play

Treyarch recently announced that they’ll once again be taking lead with the Ranked Play modes in both Multiplayer and Warzone. Ever since Cold War (2020), Treyarch has been leading the competitive scene, and won’t be stopping with Modern Warfare 3.

Warzone Ranked Rewards

MW3 Ranked Play is introducing several free rewards players can get just by grinding the mode. Multiplayer ranked has released with Season 1 Reloaded, half a season earlier than it did for MW2’s life cycle. Warzone Ranked didn’t make it’s way onto Al Mazrah until Season 3 last year, which may drop even earlier this time around for Modern Warfare III.

Seasonal Prestige

Following a similar system to Modern Warfare II, Season 1 allows you to level up past Rank 55 into Prestige Ranks that persist across seasons. Beginning in Season 2, players can proceed past Rank 250, likely to 450 or 500 which will be the equivalent of prestige 9 or 10. Achieving this unlocks rewards and a set of challenges — complete those challenges to unlock multiple exclusive Calling Cards, with separate sets of Cards for both Multiplayer and Zombies.

MW3 Seasonal Prestige

At the beginning of Season 2, you can continue ranking up from wherever you landed in the first season.. This allows players to catch up in later seasons, while also not resetting the progress of anyone who reached the Max Rank during that season.
