NEW SHADOW SIEGE WARZONE EVENT EXPLAINED
With the launch of Season 5, the usual hackers found references and an icon for the COD 2023 reveal event which is called Shadow Siege. The reveal event is rumored to have it’s own dedicated playlist through Warzone, but it’s unknown if the event takes place in Battle Royale or DMZ. Earlier rumors suggested the event would take place in DMZ, while the Season 5 blogpost specifically also lists the event under the DMZ section.
There’s also a hidden bunker underneath Zaya Observatory, which resembles the entrances for Koschei Complex. It’s entirely possible players will have to go up to the bunker and choose to spawn into a special lobby, containing the reveal event.
THE STORY IMPLICATIONS OF SHADOW SIEGE
This is what Activision confirmed about the upcoming Shadow Siege event:
Drop into Call of Duty: Warzone to experience the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty 2023 in a limited-time event. Join the ranks of Shadow Company to take on Konni forces and secure the chemical weapon threat before it’s too late. Stay tuned to Call of Duty channels for more details about the upcoming reveal.
The Season 5 challenge event, Faction Showdown is confirmed to end in a cease fire on August 16th, which aligns with the cinematic cutscene that has Graves working together with Farah and Alex. Task Force 141 is likely to put aside their conflict with Shadow Company to combat a common enemy which are Makarov’s ultranationalist forces.
ALL REWARDS FOR COMPLETING SHADOW SIEGE
During the launch of Season 5, players noticed a mysterious pop up in game which stated they’d unlocked the M13C, an upcoming DLC weapon, as apart of the Shadow Siege event. Players reported they hadn’t done much prior to the pop up, meaning the unlock notification is entirely a bug, but does line up with the rumored rewards for the COD 2023 reveal:
- New Assault Rifle (M13C)
- Vehicle Skin
- Calling Card
- Emblem
- Battle Pass Tokens
- Weapon Charm
RELEASE DATE OF THE SHADOW SIEGE EVENT
The same individuals who’ve done excessive Call of Duty leaking also shared images of the in game banner players will see, promoting the Shadow Siege event. Based on those images, the COD 2023 reveal is set to take place on Thursday, August 17th. Narratively, this date lines up with end of the Faction Showdown event on the 16th, which will have Task Force 141 and Shadow Company postponing their conflict.
The leaked images also suggest that fans will be able to pre order Modern Warfare 3 as soon as the reveal event concludes. As of now, the pre order bonuses are unknown, but we’ll find out what those rewards include after the Shadow Siege.
