In collaboration with Marvel Games, and Oculus Studios, Twisted Pixels has unveiled their newest venture into VR with a new DeadPool game, and we’re here to break it down!
Today at Summer Games Fest we got our first look at a brand new DeadPool video game, and an unexpected one at that, because it’s in the form of VR. This game appears to draw a lot of inspiration for it’s style directly from the DeadPool movies, as evidenced by the little doodles that can be seen on some of the games art work.
In this game you play as DeadPool (obviously). The Merc with a Mouth, Wade Wilson, in what will probably be one of the most immersive Marvel experiences to date. You inhabit the character, using his assortment of weapons to take down a myriad of foes in iconic foulmouth fashion.
Today’s announcement came with a trailer in which we hear Neil Patrick Harris as the voice of DeadPool, and it’s very clearly a performance based off Ryan Reynolds depiction of the beloved character. The trailer shows us a great deal of the weapons which will be at our disposal during gameplay: handguns which you can dual wield, Swords that you can use to deflect bullets, throwing knives, shotguns etc.
You also get a glimpse of wall running, as well as potentially certain environmental kills such as stuffing someone’s head into a propeller, all while DeadPool makes quips.
DeadPool VR doesn’t have a current set release date outside of just generally sometime in “Late 2025” so while we don’t know the exact month, unless an unexpected delay happens, it appears we will see this game release on VR platforms later this year; in any case we’ll be sure to report on any substantial news which comes from this title in the coming months. Stay tuned to Detonated for more information to come.
