How to Unlock The Magma Camo in Modern Warfare 3

The MW3 Vortex update is releasing prior to Season 1 Reloaded, and will feature a new challenge event that rewards players with the animated Magma camo. Modern Warfare III will add the Vortex event and magma camo shortly before the launch of Season One Reloaded. Here’s everything you need to know about the Magma camo in MWIII.

VORTEX EVENT RELEASE DATE

The Vortex event begins on January 3 following CODMAS and ends on January 17th! This mean the CODMAS Event will last 14 days, then immediately go into the Vortex Event in the new year!

Once again, the Modern Warfare 3 Season 1 ‘Vortex’ Event begins on January 3rd, 2024 at 10AM PT, 12PM CT, and 1PM ET

HOW TO PLAY THE VORTEX MODE

It’s been confirmed that the Vortex mode will be a Free for All experience, with one Ray Gun spawning in which players will have to fight over. The Ray Gun is confirmed to be a one hit kill, and the first player to reach the score limit will win.

Vortex will only be playable on three map remixes which include Rust, Scrapyard and Quarry. Vortex is expected to be a limited time mode that’s only available until the end of Season one. For a full review and breakdown of the Ray Gun mode, checkout this video.

VORTEX EVENT REWARDS

Enter the flames of the Vortex to fight for cataclysmic rewards. In this event, players will progress through the 15 available rewards by playing in the Vortex-themed maps Tetanus, Satan’s Quarry, and Sporeyard. The rewards include:

9,500 XP: The Goat (Weapon Sticker)
21,500 XP: 30M Double XP Token (Consumable)
36,900 XP: Through the Smoke (Large Decal)
56,350 XP: 45M Double Weapon XP Token (Consumable)
81,100 XP: Ghost Fire (Charm)
112,450 XP: Skull Fire (Large Decal)
152,300 XP: Volcanic (Emblem)
202,950 XP: A Little Rusty (Calling Card)
267,200 XP: 1H Double Battle Pass XP Token (Consumable)
348,900 XP: Winged Fire (Weapon Sticker)
452,550 XP: 1H Double XP Token (Consumable)
584,250 XP: Forged in Flames (Calling Card)
751,500 XP: Putrid Skulls (Weapon Sticker)
963,950 XP: 1H Double Weapon XP Token (Consumable)
1,233,700 XP: Magma (Animated Weapon Camo)

The main reward to earn, is the ‘Magma’ Animated camo, coming as the FINAL Reward in this event. It resembles the old ‘Afterlife’ Camo from Mob of the Dead! Here is a look at that below!
