The Modern Warfare 3 BAL-27 assault rifle is set to be released with Season 3 Reloaded on May 1st. Players can unlock the BAL-27 from Advanced Warfare via the Classified Battlepass sector once the mid season begins next month. Hardcore Call of Duty fans are anticipating the release of the final weapon for MWIII and Warzone Season 3 Reloaded. Here’s everything we know about unlocking the BAL-27 in the MW3 Season 3 Reloaded update:
THE BAL-27 RETURNS
Confirmed as a Season 3 assault rifle along with the previously released MORS Sniper, another Advanced Warfare weapon is joining the MW3 arsenal.
“A bullpup prototype weapon designed to increase fire rate over time while the trigger is squeezed. The first 4 shots are slower to fire but highly accurate.”
The BAL-27 also introduces the new Sunset Waves, Simpler Times, Electro Torrent, and Sunny Side Weapon Camos, accessible by completing BAL-27-specific in-game challenges.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE BAL-27
Unlocking the BAL-27 is just as easy as unlocking reloaded weapons previously! There will be a new sector in the Battle Pass where you need to complete each tier via beating a challenge to unlock the BAL-27! Here’s each tier and their rewards:
- AKIMBO ASSAULT – Finishing Move
- Get 5 Operator Headshot or Special Zombie Critical Kills With Assault Rifles
- PIERCED GAZE – Calling Card
- Get 10 Operator or Special Zombie Kills While Moving With Assault Rifles

- Get 10 Operator or Special Zombie Hipfire Kills With Assault Rifles
- 1 HOUR DOUBLE XP TOKEN
- Get 10 Operator or Special Zombie Tac Stance Kills With Assault Rifles

- Get 15 Operator or Special Zombie Kills While Aiming Down Sights With Assault Rifles
NEW & RETURNING BAL-27 BLUEPRINTS
Confirmed in the recent Season 3 creator call, blueprints from Advanced Warfare such as the inferno or obsidian steed may make a return in Modern Warfare III.
Typically, a DLC weapon launches alongside a bundle, allowing players to buy a blueprint in case they prefer not to unlock the base version of the weapon.
HOW TO UNLOCK THE BAL-27 IN MW3 & WARZONE
Just like previous mid season updates, the classified battlepass sector is set to open on May 1st, providing players with five new challenges.
The first four challenges must be completed, all of which can reward players with items like XP tokens, aftermarket parts and possibly a camo. After that, the HVT will unlock, providing a fifth and final challenge which unlocks the new weapon.
Players can also choose to exfil with the BAL-27 in Zombies to instantly unlock the base weapon, unless they purchase a bundle featuring a blueprint for the new assault rifle.
If a player logs in after Season 3 concludes, they’ll still be able to unlock the BAL-27 through an individual challenge, even if the next season’s battlepass is live.
THE ADVANCED WARFARE CELEBRATION CONTINUES
While the MORS sniper already released, players can look forward to the AMR9 aftermarket part, which is dubbed the JAK Atlas Kit. The same AMR9 was featured in Advanced Warfare (2014).
It’s unclear if the advanced warfare weaponry used just call back to one of Sledgehammer’s most well received title, or if this is a signal towards a potential sequel in 2027.
The EM1 was previously featured as a DLC weapon in Vanguard (2021) while fans have shown interest in that laser rifle returning again in Modern Warfare III.
