With the Marathon Closed Alpha now live on Wednesday, April 23rd at 10am PST, many players are experiencing issues with getting Alpha Codes to be able to hop in and try for themselves! The Marathon Alpha will run from April 23rd at 10 PST to May 4th at 10 PST, so you’ll have plenty of time to get a Code if you don’t have one for the initial Closed Alpha Launch. How to Register for the Marathon Closed Alpha
First, you will need a Bungie account to be able to play in the Marathon Closed Alpha and be located in North America. If you have a Bungie account, all you will need to do is sign in while registering. If you do not have Bungie account, you will be forced to create one during registration.
To sign-up for the Marathon Closed Alpha, you will need to join the Official Marathon Discord Server and visit the ‘#🐛alpha_access’ Channel inside the Server, and type ‘/alpha’ to receive a message from the Marathon Discord Bot with a link. Clicking this link will open up Bungie.net and prompt you to sign-in to your Bungie Account.
The Platform you wish to play the Marathon Closed Alpha can then be decided. Choose carefully as this will be the code you receive in order to play it during the Alpha window. Answering the 20 Survey Questions is also a requirement, ranging from video game play hours per week, to your occupation, and what are you most recently played games. After you complete the survey, it will let you know to check your email if you get picked to join the Marathon Closed Alpha.
Bungie has confirmed that there will be a Population Cap for the Marathon Closed Alpha, which will be slowly raised over the next 2 weeks to allow players to participate in the Alpha Test. So, if you don’t get in as soon as the Alpha started, don’t worry! They will slowly be letting more and more people play as the Closed Alpha goes on.
How To Download Marathon Closed Alpha
Once you receive a Marathon Close Alpha Code, it will either be for one of three platforms, Steam, Xbox, or PlayStation.

If you have a Steam code, follow the steps in your email and once logged into the account used for the Alpha Test Sign Up, navigate to the ‘Game Codes’ Tab and view the ‘Marathon Alpha’ Code. Copy the code and head over to the ‘Games > Activate a Product’ on Steam, or ‘Redeem a Code’ on the Xbox or Playstation Store. After putting in your code, you will be able to install the Marathon Close Alpha.
Some players on Reddit have noted that if the Marathon Closed Alpha does NOT show up in your library on Console, resetting the console should fix this issue. Playstation Plus or Xbox Live is NOT REQUIRED to play the Marathon Closed Alpha.
