How To Prestige DMZ Operators in Modern Warfare 4

MW4 offers yet another form of prestige apart from player and weapon levels, but through specific DMZ operators. Infinity took active duty operators to another level compared to the original DMZ Beta. Here’s everything you need to know about operator prestige in MW4 DMZ:

Unlocking Operator Prestige

Although DMZ has a level 1-70 progression track, the prestige system is actually seperate and tied to your individual active duty operator. Players will need to max out their dog tag level followed by exchanging cash and ingredients to be able and prestige.

Dog tag levels are increased each time a skill trait point is earned. A total of 18 skill trait points are needed to max out an operator’s dog tag. Skill traits are earned by progressing through DMZ’s missions, looting and defeating enemies.

For context, here are all dog tag levels that can be progressed for each operator as players earn DMZ XP while in game:

  • Steel
    • Steel | → Steel || → Steel III
  • Bronze
    • Bronze | → Bronze || → Bronze III
  • Silver
    • Silver | → Silver II → Silver III
  • Gold
    • Gold I → Gold II → Gold III
  • Damascus
    • Damascus I → Damascus II → Damascus III
  • Onyx
    • Onyx 1 → Onyx II → Onyx III

Prestiging an operator for the first time will reset an operator’s dog tag level back to Steel 1, but will grant one random and permanent skill trait while resetting the rest.

The prestige process can be initiated at the forward operating base, granted a player meets the following requirements:

All DMZ Operator Prestige Requirements

Prestige 1

  • 18 Trait Points
  • 2 weapons (Rare or higher), each with 3 attachment slots
  • Plate Carrier
    (Rare or higher)
  • Backpack (rare or higher)
  • 4x rare 3D printer ingredients
  • 200,000 DMZ cash

Prestige 2

  • 2 weapons, each with 4 attachment slots
  • Epic plate carrier
  • Epic backpack
  • 4x Epic 3D printer ingredients
  • 300,000 DMZ cash

Prestige 3

  • 2 weapons, each with 4 attachment slots
  • Legendary Plate Carrier
  • Legendary Backpack
  • 500,000 DMZ Cash

Prestiging an operator for a second and third will also remove any earned skill traits, while granting one additional permanent trait. A total of three permanent skill traits can be obtained for each operator from prestiges 1-3.

Beyond Prestige 3

Players can continue to prestige their operator after earning 18 skill trait points, thus allowing them to preserve their previously obtained permanent traits.

Continuing to prestige will require a player to exchange the same items as prestige 3, while granting the ability to re roll the third permanent skill trait and preserve the other two.
