Modern Warfare 4 is around the corner, and we have been receiving more intel about the DMZ game mode the past few days.
From deep dives into mechanics to even a date on when the mode can be played early through Early Access, we have plenty of information to cover.
DMZ Early Access
Infinity Ward has been giving us bits and pieces of intel on what the DMZ game mode is about, and the latest piece being that the entire game mode is receiving Early Access.
That marks it being the first time a third main game mode is getting Early Access, where as previously we only have had Campaign Early Access.
The Campaign Early Access starts on October 16th 17:00 UTC and rolls out per time zone, meaning depending on your time zone you may have access to the mode earlier or later than friends in other time zones.
The DMZ Early Access starts on October 20th 17:00 UTC and just like the Campaign also rolls out per time zone, giving those with a more favorable time zone a head start.
And the full game is launching on October 23 05:00 UTC.
To be one of the very first players to play either mode you can ‘book a ticket’ to New Zealand, as they have access first to both modes.
The New Zealand trick has been a thing for the last few Call of Duty titles, where the player sets their virtual location to New Zealand and has a few hours earlier access than the rest of the world.

Must Know Information About DMZ
- Core Game Loop: DMZ is an open-world extraction shooter set in the Hajin Exclusion Zone where players deploy solo or in squads. You scavenge weapons, fulfill dynamic objectives, fight AI and rival operators, and attempt to successfully extract before dying.
- Forward Operating Base (FOB): The out-of-match hub acts as your personal operational headquarters between deployments. Here, you manage inventory, buy gear from the Weapon Vendor, and upgrade facilities to unlock passive playstyle traits.
- Crafting & 3D Printing: Players can extract crafting materials from Hajin to utilize the FOB’s 3D Printer. This system allows you to build custom plate carriers, specialized backpacks, field upgrades, and high-tier equipment before going into a run.
- Escalating Threat Level: Making too much noise or taking out heavy AI presence causes enemy alertness to escalate throughout the match. Higher threat levels spawn tougher enemy reinforcements, heavy armored units, and elite hunter squads that actively track you.
- Smarter AI Infantry: Enemy combatants use improved squad AI that coordinate pushes, take realistic cover, and utilize tactical movement. A HUD stealth indicator lets you know when AI forces are actively detecting or searching for your location.
- Dynamic Operations & Side Ops: Matches feature shifting environmental conditions and evolving side missions like hacking phones, repairing vehicles, or infiltrating vault areas. These non-linear activities provide high-value loot opportunities that change every run.
- Shared Weapon Progression: Guns leveled and modified in DMZ share progression with standard Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer modes. Additionally, high-end 8-attachment weapons can be scavenged in high-risk exclusion zones.
- Active Duty Roster: You maintain multiple Active Duty Operators, each holding their own specific backpack loadout, armor vest, and personal gear. If an operator fails to extract, their equipped gear is lost, forcing you to re-kit them or swap operators.
- Multiple Extraction Options: Players are not limited to standard exfil choppers when escaping the zone with their loot. Map features offer alternative extraction methods, including skyhooks and specialized tactical extraction points.
- Free Loadout Fallbacks: If your stash runs low on gear, you can launch a run using a pre-configured Free Loadout. This guarantees you always have basic survival weapons and equipment without risking lost inventory.
