The wait is finally over with Techland’s Dying Light: The Beast set to release in the coming months. Today we’ll be breaking down what’s in store for players in this brand new open world, parkour based, zombie killing experience.
Techland’s newest stand-alone entry to the Dying Light Franchise is nearly upon us, and today we got to see a taste for what’s in store with a new trailer and 30 minutes of gameplay.
The game is set in the fictional location of Caster Woods, and fans will be delighted to see that Kyle Crane from the first game is returning as the playable protagonist. The gameplay features the parkour and day/night cycle that the series is known for; whilst elevating it to new heights with new zombie types, refined combat, and a new “beast” mechanic.
The story this time revolves around Kyle Crane, a “legendary hero, who breaks free after years of enduring brutal experiments. Now, he must realize there’s more at stake than just revenge.” as per the Steam description of the game which is now available for Pre-Order. The game appears to be going for an experience much more akin to that of the 1st Dying Light which released nearly a decade ago at this point, with Dying Light: The Beast putting renewed focus on the Volatiles, and Safe Zones at night.
Dying Light: The Beast is set to release this Summer on August 22nd, and will cost $60, which has some fans riled up due to it seemingly being a smaller scale spin off style experience. Nonetheless, the game will be playable on Xbox, PlayStation, and on PC via Steam, and the Epic Games Store.
