Classic and Regular Prestige in Modern Warfare 4 Explained

Modern Warfare 4 offers Classic and new Regular Prestige. Classic relocks unlocks for Permanent Unlock Token, XP Boost and Prime Operator Blueprint. Regular keeps everything unlocked with normal rewards. Players choose freely each time; DMZ progression remains unaffected.

Modern Warfare 4 has the return of Classic Prestige for the first time in an Infinity Ward game since Infinite Warfare is 2016. This time, alongside the Classic System, is a new Regular Prestige which features different rewards and more. Today, we’re discussing the difference between the two systems, Classic and Regular, so you can decide what you like the most:

Classic Prestige in Modern Warfare 4

Much like Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7 Classic Prestige, Modern Warfare 4 features 10 total Prestiges. Once hitting level 55, you can choose this option to Enter Prestige 1, for example, resetting your level back to 1 with everything else also relocked including Create-a-Class, Weapons, Perks, and more. You will also receive a Permanent Unlock Token, an permanent XP Boost, and an Exclusive ‘Prime’ Operator or Blueprint Variant based on that Prestige’s rewards.

Regular Prestige in Modern Warfare 4

Regular Prestige is new to Call of Duty and in Modern Warfare 4, provides the player with another way to Prestige. Unlike Classic Prestige, hitting Level 55 then entering Prestige 1 will NOT lock anything in the Create-a-Class, Weapons, and more. The main difference if that you will not get a permanent unlock token, permanent XP boost, and lose access to an exclusive ‘Prime’ variant of that Prestige’s Operator or Blueprint Reward. You will still be able to unlock the rewards available at that Prestige Level, but the final reward will be a different variant.

What Prestige Should You Choose in Modern Warfare 4?

In short, here is a chart to show the exact benefits of each system for Classic and Regular Prestige:

Whether or not you choose Classic or Regular Prestige comes down to many factors. The first being, if you like the Normal Variant more than the Prime Variant in the Rewards Tab, and second being if you don’t really mind losing out on the Permanent XP Boost from Classic Prestige.

The choice between the systems isn’t final, you can pick and choose every time you want to Prestige, to fit your playstyle at that current moment. Sometimes you might want to keep everything unlocked and go for the normal reward, and sometimes you may want that extra challenge of Classic Prestige.

Either Prestige System does not effect your DMZ Level, so you can freely Prestige your Player Level without worrying about losing your 1-70 Level Progress in DMZ, which has its own progression entirely.

The End

That’s the difference between classic and regular prestige in Modern Warfare 4! Which System will you be using for your Prestige Grind? Below is a video about all Prestige Rewards in Modern Warfare 4:
