With Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 releasing later this year, speculation has begun on if we will be getting Carry Forward this year from Black Ops 6. If we are getting it, what will & wont carry over into the newest Black Ops entry? Fans eagerly await to see what will be brought over into BO7 from BO6. Today, we’re going to go over what’s believed to be carrying forward into Black Ops 7, what we may not see, as well as what Warzone carry over may look like. Here’s what you need to know:
What Is Carry Forward?
Carry Forward is a concept we saw in Modern Warfare 2 (2022), into Modern Warfare 3 (2023). It’s the premise of content from a previous game transferring over to the next game entry. For example, progress, unlocks, weapons, etc. in MW2 (2022) were carried over into MW3 (2023). Seeing it was two back to back games from the same developer, we could easily see it with BO6 & BO7.
Maps Carry Over Rumor
There a been discussion over the past few weeks of we’ll see any maps from BO6 carry forward into BO7. If you remember back with MW3, we saw some maps from MW2 make their way over to MW3 in Season 1 if not sooner. This allowed newer players to experience these older MW2 maps but with the newer systems in MW3.
It wouldn’t be a surprise to see some fan favorite 6v6 or strike maps make appearances in BO7 in the first season or across different seasons in the games lifecycle. Though, there may not be more than 5-6 maps that come over total as we should be seeing plenty of original maps as well as reimagined maps.
Zombies fans may remember a rumor that all round based maps will carry forward into BO7. That wouldn’t make too much sense & would make BO6 feel more redundant. However, they may do an option where players who own BO6 may be able to carry forward all the BO6 Round Based Zombies maps.
What Will Carry Forward Into Black Ops 7:
Based off of how carry forward worked with Modern Warfare 2 (2022) to Modern Warfare 3 (2023), it’s easy to figure carry forward will work the same way for BO6 & BO7. These are the different features that will likely carry over into Black Ops 7 from Black Ops 6. These are subject to change & may vary from the official release.
Weapons
Now with the launch window of BO7, all your weapons from within BO6 should be available. This would also mean every attachment available with the current set of weapons would carry forward as well. Weapon progression should carry over in Black Ops 7, letting players continue their camo & attachment grinds. This should also include all weapon blueprints you’ve gathered from all avenues of BO6.
Operators

It would truly be a shocker if all of our operators didn’t carry forward into Black Ops 7. Any skins available in Black Ops 6 should be able to be equipped in BO7. To partner with that, all your operator cosmetics will carry forward with it, & be usable on day one. This could include extra operators & operator skins you may have obtained from battle passes, bundles, events, etc.
Cosmetics
The next subject would be cosmetics. Calling Cards, Emblems, Finishing Moves, Sprays, Large Decals, Emotes, & any other cosmetics that you’ve acquired in BO6, should all work under the same COD HQ umbrella in BO7. This will give players more customization options going into Black Ops 7.
XP Tokens
With carry forward in MW2, XP tokens carried over seamlessly. They were available for all modes on launch. However, carrying over from MW3 into BO6, the tokens were bugged & only could be used in BO6’s Warzone. Not too long after some community backlash, XP tokens were made available for use in all BO6 modes. We should see all XP tokens carried over into Black Ops 7.
Beta Rewards
Once hitting certain level caps during betas, players could unlock various cosmetics, operator skins, & even blueprints. These rewards are usable not only in the beta, but then are available for use during the launch window of the game itself.
COD Points
A frequently asked question in the COD community when it comes to a new game is “Will COD Points carry over?”. COD points will usually transfer from game to game as long as you’re under the same Activision ID & on the same platform.
Perks, Field Upgrades, Ammo Mods & Augment Upgrades

We’ll likely see perks carry forward into BO7 Zombies. What may happen with some of the perks is they are restricted to the Wonderfizz machine, as opposed to having machines on some maps. All of your field upgrades, ammo mods, & augment upgrades to all should be carried over into BO7 Zombies as well, & shouldn’t just disappear into the aether. They should just add more upgrades & perks as the games lifecycle goes on.
What Won’t Carry Forward Into Black Ops 7:
Now that we’ve gone over everything we believe will carry forward into BO7, let’s take a look at the things that likely won’t transfer over when you boot up Black Ops 7 for the first time. This is based of how carry forward to MW3 worked.
Player Rank
While there probably be a menu or tab to access your legacy rank as well as your prestige icons from BO6, your rank from BO6 won’t carry over. Instead of whatever level you currently are in Black Ops 7, when you boot up for the first time, you’ll be rank 1. The developers likely wouldn’t want players to be rank 1,000 & have all content unlocked off the bat.
Permanent Prestige Tokens
Similar to the rank issue, you probably won’t see your prestige tokens carry forward into BO7. This would provide players who may not have spent any prestige tokens in BO6 a major advantage in Black Ops 7. You’ll have to earn your prestige tokens as you rank up.
Carry Backwards Progress
There will not be a carry backwards feature for BO6/BO7. What this means is you won’t be able to load up BO6 & find all your BO7 weapons, BO7 rank, or be able to grind BO7 camos on BO6.
Other Features

We’ll likely see a new version of the gunsmith inside of BO7. There was a preview of a new gunsmith seen during the BO6 Direct last year. Like we saw with MW3, we’ll probably see an entirely different UI for how to build your Loadouts. Scorestreaks will not carry forward as we’ll be seeing more futuristic streaks. Field Upgrades & Perks will also probably get a revamp as well. We’ll be seeing more futuristic equipment in BO7, as opposed to BO6.
Warzone Carry Forward For Black Ops 7
As we saw with MW3 & BO6, when a new COD game comes out, your Warzone rank will still be attached to the previous Call of Duty until the Season 1 Update. What will likely happen with BO7 is your current rank in Warzone will remain the same for the 3-5 week gap before Season 1 Update for BO7 & Warzone drops.
Another question remains for Warzone. What may get vaulted in Warzone once BO7 Season 1 drops? Black Ops 7 may be the last COD to release to be integrated with the current Warzone before a reset. They may decide to vault all MW content when BO7 integrates that there won’t be 4 games worth of operators & weapons within Warzone. This could be a controversial decision though.
