The Black Ops series will return next year as the Call of Duty 2024 title. Today, it was reported by InsiderGaming that we aren’t only getting Black Ops Gulf War for 2024, but a Black Ops 2 Sequel for Call of Duty 2025! The future of Call of Duty is looking insane with Treyarch taking over along with an older developer of the franchise. Here’s what you need to know:
COD 2024 | Gulf War
Treyarch returns next year to Call of Duty; their next title is heavily rumored to be a new Black Ops title called Black Ops Gulf War.
Black Ops Gulf War will be a Treyarch led title with a Campaign, Multiplayer, and a Round Based Zombies experience as per reports. This game will be in the new IW engine (MW2019, Vanguard, MW2, and MW3’s engine) and will have the same gameplay features as before, but most likely with a classic Treyarch feel.
COD 2025 | BO2 Sequel
It’s not even Christmas, nor 2024, and we already have MASSIVE info for Call of Duty 2025! All info for Call of Duty 2025 is thanks to InsiderGaming!
It appears COD 2025 will follow the same format as MW3 by following a previous title in a saga (Modern Warfare & Black Ops) one year after the previous entry. However, the story will not be a direct continuation (as far as we know) to COD 2024 and will instead be a direct sequel to Black Ops 2! You read that right; the all-time fan-favorite Black Ops 2 will be getting a DIRECT SEQUEL 10 plus years after it’s release! Information on the plot of the Campaign is unknown, but we can assume it will follow the aftermath of the canon ending to BO2 (Menendez wins).
However, this game WILL NOT be led by Treyarch. Sledgehammer Games will be taking the reigns once again to make the direct sequel, but will be working directly with Treyarch on the Campaign and Zombies experiences. Speaking of which, COD 2025 will feature:
- CAMPAIGN
- Direct Black Ops 2 Sequel
- MULTIPLAYER
- 2030 Time Period
- ZOMBIES
- Round Based Zombies
COD 2025 | MULTIPLAYER
Let’s discuss the multiplayer side of COD 2025. Firstly, it’ll most likely feature the Carry Forward feature that MW3 had. Meaning Carry Forward will most likely include COD 2024 – COD 2025. This is a given considering the success of the feature in MW3, but we will have to wait and see what this fully entails.
Secondly, the maps featured will heavily feature MP maps from BO2 along with some new ones! Originally, it was going to launch with EVERY BO2 MP map, but due to backlash from MW3, they seem to be backtracking a tiny bit. We will most likely end the game with every BO2 map by 2026.
Finally, Pick 10 for create-a-class will return! This was rumored to be an idea SHG had for MW3, but was ultimately scrapped. We will see a mixture of the current create-a-class system with Pick 10 most likely!
COD 2025 | ZOMBIES
Finally, let’s discuss the fan-favorite mode, Zombies. This will be a heavy collab between SHG and Treyarch, similar to MW3, but will be Round Based Zombies.
Currently, it’s rumored that there will be Remastered Maps from previous iterations for the launch window, along with the possibility of a Zombies Chronicles 2! Zombies Chronicles 2 has been rumored to be finished since BO4, so it’s interesting to see this topic be brought back up so many years later!
