The end of Cold War Zombies teased a grand scheme from The Director, Aka Eddie Richtofen. Various pieces of marketing for Black Ops 6 Zombies have also referenced this master plan, named Project Janus. Today we’ll be breaking down the full timeline of events with Janus, and what it could mean for the narrative of Black Ops 6 Zombies.

PROJECT JANUS Marketing
Several pieces of Black Ops 6 promotional material have made several references to Project Janus, last referenced in Forsaken at the end of Cold War Zombies.

The steelbook case at GameStop also revealed a big Project Janus logo within the game case. It’s possible Eddie’s grand scheme will have a bigger impact on modes like Campaign or Multiplayer!

Official PROJECT JANUS Timeline

- Season 2: Requiem funding is allocated more to Grey/Strauss’s departments (NOT YET NAMED HERE) [Understanding of Dark Aether and Aetherium] July 6-7th 1984
- Season 3: Janus Cipher – Half of all Aetherium extracted diverted to the Project. Late 1984, either just prior to, or right after Outbreak Main Quest #1
- Season 4: CIA agents accidentally intercept a Project Janus info dead-drop [NOTE Janus info was being sent to Requiem from an outside source, hint at Eddie’s people] Klaus is sent to protect info from getting out and tie up loose ends. [Dead Drop intercepted on January 8th, 1985. Klaus arrives January 27th, starts killing during the same night).
- Mauer Der Toten happens [February 2nd, 1985], Writing a Group Memo, the Director states that “Janus may now proceed unimpeded. Maxis presents a problem that must be dealt with”
- Season 6: Memorandum For The Board Intel – States Mauer breach presented a key piece they needed for Janus (Presumably either the gateway itself, or The Forsaken), but the time wasn’t right. February 8th, 1985
- Season 6: Progress Report -Test Site (For Janus?) in West Virginia. June 1st, 1985
- Forsaken, June 4th, 1985 — Forsaken acquired. All breaches collapsed. Maxis is no longer problem for JANUS
- MW3 ZOMBIES ACT 4: Cutscene shows picture of Samantha Maxis, captioned: “Classified – Janus – Directive – 6776d”
Where Are We Going?

- Requires vast amounts of Aetherium (and Primordial Aetherium?)
- Requires stable gateway to DA (implied in Memorandum intel imo)
- Requires Forsaken (Additional energy?)
- Maxis presented a threat to it
- Seemingly still active as of 2021, or as of 6776 days ago (2003)
- Logo featured inside Black Ops 6 steelbook case with abbreviation for it. Clearly the biggest part of zombies plot, getting large marketing push
- Based out of West Virginia? (Liberty Falls)
