We’re less than 10 days away from the launch of Black Ops 6, & the fans are clamoring to get their hands on the Zombies Mode. Though, before we get there, it seems the mode is going through a few changes, & Treyarch was listening to the feedback for the HUD. Today, we’re going to cover some of those changes, including the event support, changes to Liberty Falls, & more. Here’s what you need to know:
MORE EVENT & CHALLENGE SUPPORT IN BO6 ZOMBIES

During the latest episode of the “COD POD”, it was confirmed that Zombies will be receiving more support for in game events in Black Ops 6.
This has been a long running complaint, especially in Modern Warfare 3. Cool, new seasonal events or challenge events would roll out & wouldn’t have support for Zombies. These events left Zombies players feeling left out as the challenges were locked specifically to Multiplayer & Warzone. Cold War was a game that balanced it out more, allowing Zombies players to complete challenges & earn the event rewards.
Though, a comparison can be made that there weren’t as many events in Cold War, compared to MW3. Treyarch surely considered this while developing post launch content for Black Ops 6. We could see event support for Zombies as soon as Season 1 Reloaded, possibly for a Christmas themed event. Maybe for following holiday events too, as well as really cool themed events that aren’t tied to holidays.
Liberty Falls Updates

Since the debut of early gameplay footage at Call of Duty NEXT back in August, the Zombies team at Treyarch has continued to iterate on the look, feel, and sound of Liberty Falls to crank up the map’s creepiness factor. Heading into launch, players can expect a moodier visual tone to the map, along with gorier set dressings and new environmental audio to more intensely reflect the chaos of a very recent dimensional breach.

Additional atmospheric elements related to the map’s Main Quest will also be present throughout Liberty Falls as players begin to solve the mysteries waiting for them in the wake of the undead incursion. And of course, there might be a brand-new Easter Egg song from Treyarch’s Kevin Sherwood to discover along the way…

BO6 HAS A “DIE MASCHINE” & A “SHADOWS” AT LAUNCH
Kevin Drew speaks on the goals of 'Terminus' and 'Liberty Falls' gameplay in #BlackOps6 Zombies:

Based on comparisons to previous Zombies entries, Liberty Falls serves to be more of the “Die Maschine” while Terminus serves more as the “Shadows of Evil” or Blood of the Dead” in terms of atmosphere, content, & quests. This is what can be assumed, based on what we know so far. Leaving players with a choice of playstyle they may want.
Kevin Drew himself even confirmed himself that Liberty Falls is a smaller map than Terminus & that it was done on purpose. This was to ensure people have a map they can jump into & level up weapons, complete challenges, or just freely slay zombies without worrying about too much substance. Where players can turn off their brains & play Zombies.
Don’t fret however, as there will be a main easter egg, & bound to be plenty of side Easter Eggs on Liberty Falls for players to enjoy. It’s a smart idea to launch the mode with a content packed map, & then include a more casual friendly map as another option for players. This usually will lead to maps throughout the DLC Season on the scale of Terminus for DLC 1, 2, 3, & onward.
I believe Liberty Falls will be a sweet spot for players to still jump into, even months after launch, if they casually want to just kill zombies, or complete challenges. A simple map, as compared to a large, possibly quest driven map like Terminus.
HUD Touch-ups
The UI team has also continued to update the game’s modular HUD, touching up some of the Zombies-specific elements that can appear across most HUD preset options and adding new settings. These updates include:
- Character portraits added to the lower-left corner by default
- General alignment and color adjustments made across the entire HUD
- Perk icons now positioned closer together
- Zombies-specific widgets added for certain in-game actions
- In-game GobbleGum reward animation added
- Visibility sliders added to allow players to fine-tune or completely disable additional HUD elements, including Score Feed, Medals & Notifications, Minimap Opacity, Weapon & Equipment Information, and more.

Above is a preview of the updated default HUD with the minimap and enemy health bars disabled as an example.
