With the recent release of Season 3 in Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 & Warzone, players experienced the Zombies map ‘Shattered Veil’. The shocking conclusion of DLC 3 leave fans to look ahead at what’s to come, ‘Reckoning’. Today, we’ll be going over what we know about DLC 4 for Black Ops 6 Zombies, the story headed in, & more. Here’s what you need to know:
Shattered Veil Recap
The Main Easter Egg Quest of ‘Shattered Veil’ (DLC 3), saw Weaver & co. infiltrate the Mansion, not too far away from Liberty Falls. During this quest, Ex-Requiem powered up the Sentinel Artifact, & delivered it to S.A.M whose main unit was located on site. This came with consequences of course.
During the venture, the crew was contacted by Richthofen, begging we not listen to or trust S.A.M, as their intentions are not what they seem. With the collective hate they share for Richtofen, they of course ignore these warnings & proceed forward in aiding S.A.M. Why do this you might ask?
The goal of Ex-Requiem was to bring back Samantha Maxis, who we last see take down the Forsaken & plunge herself into the Dark Aether. Weaver, Grey, Carver, & Maya aim to free Maxis from within the Dark Aether. S.A.M pretends to align with these goals, leading Requiem to trust her. This of course was not the full truth, with pretty crucial details left out.
S.A.M aims to retrieve Maxis’s body & inhabit it for themselves. This would give her access to any & all of the powers Maxis possesses. Full control over the Dark Aether itself. To basically become a Dark Aether god, & rule over all. Obviously once she reveals this to Requiem, they’re none too pleased.
She sends the crew away to a place outside of the normal world. Stuck inside that same room is Edward Richtofen. Having also been banished there by S.A.M, Richtofen reveals why he’s put Requiem through everything. Why he’s done everything he has so far, to bring back his wife & child. Two people very important to Richtofen, who were killed in a botched hit job intended for him. Killed by Weaver & Maxis.
Though Requiem & Richtofen don’t reconcile, they form a temporary alliance, only till the bigger threat of S.A.M is dealt with.
Reckoning Release Date in Season 5 of Black Ops Zombies
With the upcoming release of Season 5 in Black Ops 6 & Warzone, ‘Reckoning’ has been featured in many teasers as well as a gameplay trailer. Season 5 will begin on August 7th at 11AM, 12PM ET, & 9AM PST, & ‘Reckoning’ will be available on launch.
Where We’re Headed, Janus Towers
Once Requiem escapes the Mansion & defeats the Z-REX, the final shot of the outro cutscene shows our crew headed towards Janus Towers. Richtofen will attempt to reclaim the Sentinel Artifact, and finally revive his family, while Requiem will attempt to bring back Maxis from the Dark Aether, if possible.
After sending the crew away, S.A.M disappears from within the map. She no longer is there after completion of the Easter Egg. She presumably is making her way over towards Janus Towers, located not too far from the Mansion itself. There, she will enact her final plan to take the body of Maxis.
Janus Towers is where we’ll likely have our final battle with S.A.M. This is also likely where we’ll see two important players to the story make their reappearance. Two who’ve been absent since Liberty Falls, Blanchard & Panos.
Last we saw of Panos, he had some unfinished business to deal with, as he betrayed the Strike Team & left them stranded in the Dark Aether. Panos also cut off the Strike Teams communication from Blanchard, leaving him in the dark on the fate of his team. They’ll both be making an appearance during the events of Janus Towers in DLC 4.
We may also see the return of Ava Jansen in DLC 4, potentially the last chance we have to see her return in BO6. Last we saw her, she was pulled into a portal by a Shadowsmith, with the Mansion in the background. Her story arc continuation will likely help set up COD 2025. Especially if COD 2025 is some kind of spiritual successor to MWZ & Outbreak, with this massive, Tranzit like, Round Based map.
Map Overview
It’s very apparent that Janus Towers have seen better days & are on the verge of collapse. These vertical towers are filled with hidden chambers, offices, laboratories, as well as research offices, waiting for players to discover their secrets. There also lies a robot assemble station within one of the towers. That surely won’t be an issue later, right?
Aside from the undead outbreak, the reactors within the towers have reached critical failure & risk causing a catastrophic event that would reach across the globe. Stabilizing these reactors is priority number one. Richtofen & S.A.M. both have their own agendas at play, as well as the aforementioned Panos & Blanchard.
Reckoning Map Gameplay & Features
Boss/Enemies
Uber Klaus
An enemy that had been rumored for a while dubbed Mecha Klaus, has now been confirmed & officially names ‘Uber Klaus’. These new ‘Uber Klaus’ enemies will be Elites, & are surrounded by a thick layer of armor. While it’s unknown how to take out this elite enemy, taking out the armor is the first step. However, a second threat awaits players once the armor is shattered..
Once the armor has been taken away from the Uber Klaus, the Uber Klaus Core will eject from the armored suit. This Uber Klaus Core will have a significant increase in speed & will continue to utilize arm mounted launchers. It will also capitalize use of its hover boots.
Kommando Klaus
Another new enemy makes an appearance in ‘Reckoning’, known as Kommando Klaus bots. These Kommando Klaus bots will emerge in groups & attack players once the red mists descends upon the facility. What makes these bots so deadly is that their self destruct protocols are active. Meaning you’ll need to keep your distance from them at any given time.
Alongside these new enemies, players can expect waves of undead staff, including scientists, security, etc. to be at players every turn. There are redacted messsges of mutated experiments getting loose during the chaos as well that players will have to fight off.
New Wonder Weapon – The Gorgofex
What can only be described as ‘bio-aetheric’, the Gorgofex is a brand-new wonder weapon coming to ‘Reckoning’ in Season 5. This wonder weapon seemingly is alive in a sense, with its breathing & pulsing. Even a heart-like organ has been seen & speculated to circulate energy to the weapon.
The Gorgofex has the ability to fire charged up attacks or just regular shots against enemies. Upon impact with enemies, a heavy area of direct damage is created. With this damage, a tighter area of effect is manifested. How large the damage impact is, depends on if the shot is charged or not. For example, a fully charged shot will dissipate outward & cause a wider area of damage.
The after-effect dissipation will cause a momentary gravitational based field around the area of impact. This gravitational area will snag enemies & lift them into the air. After doing so, it will thrust the enemies down with force to eliminate them. While this is the abilities of the base Gorgofex, there’s talk of two other variants.
Means of Transportation
Parachutes
As seen in the gameplay trailer for ‘Reckoning’, players will be able to parachute down into the facilities when on the higher levels. It makes sense with the verticality of the map that parachuting will be available.
Teleportation
Using Aetheric Energy, the techs & scientists of Project Janus were able to create Teleportation devices that will make getting around the facilities a lot easier & quicker. These teleporters work in pairs & will likely need to be activated & modified for use.
Anti-Gravity Launchers
Similar to the teleporters, these anti-gravity launching devices can be used to easily transport between the facilities. Using one of the launchers will cause the illusion of flight as you’re launched to the destination point. Makes travel from one tower balcony to another much smoother.
Unstable Gravity
Within one of the towers, there’s a room containing a massive reactor device. This device was used for testing from Project Janus scientists. This experimentation has led to bouts of gravitational shifts that will cause anti-gravity. This anti-gravity will engulf the entire room & will affect all entities contained in the area. Projectiles of any kind, even those from weapons, will also be affected by this anti-gravity.
New Trap – C.A.S.T.E.R. Turret
This brand new turret will cause major devastation to your enemies. While this turret is stuck mounted to the wall, it will fire powerful blasts of energy in rapid bursts to eliminate all hostiles in its path. According to redacted files, you’ll be able to upgrade the turret specialized nano technology.
