Black Ops 6 on Game Pass Price Updates, NEW Editions & Benefits

Xbox just made quite the change to their Game Pass subscriptions. One players may want to have a look at, if they were purchasing solely for Black Ops 6. What changes are these? What is this talk of MW3 & older Call of Duty titles coming to game pass? Is Game Pass worth purchasing after this change Microsoft has made? Let’s dive in & see shall we?

MW3 Coming to Game Pass This Month

Some pretty surprising news to hear about Xbox Game Pass, regarding MW3. Supposedly according to Insider Gaming, Modern Warfare 3 will be available on Game Pass later this month. With Season 5 Marketing about a week away, & the actual launch of Season 5 being about 2 weeks away, it could come to Xbox Game Pass. Something to consider with the timing of Season 5. One would consider they would wait till the launch of Black Ops 6 to release MW3 on Game Pass. Not sure why they would do it now, or if any older CODs will be joining it.

This is great news for those who may only play Warzone, or may not own MW3 however, & want to try it out through the Game Pass, rather than purchasing the game. This I feel will be a significant change for the MW3 community, as they could see a huge influx of players over the next month or so.

Xbox Just Raised Game Pass Prices!

A recent change that was believed not to be happening for a couple of months was just announced a day & a half ago. That change being the price increase of Xbox Game Pass. Every tier is seemingly going up by a couple of bucks.

  • Game Pass Core – Gives access to online/Xbox live, a select back catalog of games. Costs $10 a month, or $75 a year.
  • PC Game Pass gives access to new games, day one. Costs $12 a month.
  • Xbox Game Pass Standard – gives access to online/Xbox Live, a back catalog of games, no new games day one. Costs $15 a month.
  • Xbox Game Pass Ultimate – gives access to online/Xbox Live, new games day one, a back catalog of games, & EA Play. Costs $20 a month.

One worth noting is Game Pass Console Tier is no longer going to be available for new subscribers.

How Much Black Ops 6 Costs on Game Pass & Is It Worth It?

Is it worth getting Game Pass for Black Ops 6 alone? Let’s break it down. It’ll cost $20 a month or $240 a year on Game Pass Ultimate to play Black Ops 6. Compared to PC, where you’re only paying $12 a month, or $144 yearly. After around 3-4 months, you might as well own a copy of BO6, especially if you’re a full time COD player. If you’re an Xbox or PC player who plays nothing but COD, there’s really no incentive to be subscribed to Game Pass just for BO6. However, if you play lots of games & explore the Xbox library, you’re fully incentivized to subscribe to Game Pass. Black Ops 6 would be a nice add on to it all.

So we circle back, is it worth getting Game Pass for just BO6? No. You’ll end up paying a lot more money than you would if you just bought an individual copy of the game itself. It’s easier to just buy the 1 time payment of $70 or $100 & always having access to the game, versus the monthly or yearly payment & losing it. Not this is not to discourage people from subbing to Xbox Game Pass, but if you’re someone who isn’t planning on playing other games, it’s just not worth it. Game Pass does serve as a temporary alternative while you save for a full copy of the game.

Old Call of Duty Games on Game Pass Soon

What if a bunch of old Call of Duty titles are added to Game Pass before BO6 releases later this year? Would it make sense to stay subbed to Game Pass for the sake of Call of Duty? That’s the thing. They’re releasing a new tier, or an update to an existing tier to bring out a back catalog of games. Quite the odd that they’re also seemingly preparing to integrate a bunch of older CODs with Xbox Game Pass. That’s more likely what they’re leaning towards. Likely starting with MW3 later this month. I’d say it’s likely by the end of 2024, or early 2025, we’ll be seeing a lot of old Call of Duty entries added to the Game Pass.

What this means for hackers, rough lobbies, ping, stability issues, etc. that come with these older titles? Hopefully Microsoft continues to improve all those older games & ensure a smooth integration. It will certainly be a treat to hopefully visit populated & non hack lobbies of older COD titles, that some may not have access to anymore. It could be financially reasonable to stay subbed to Game Pass if you’re playing a variety of CODs vs just playing BO6. For right now however, it looks like just MW3 & BO6 will be available on Game Pass later on.
