Black Ops 6 Nuketown Map Revealed Early | FIRST LOOK

Nuketown has been one of the most prominent maps in both Call of Duty and Black Ops history. Black Ops 6 will inevitably see the return of the fan favorite Nuketown, even if it’s not for a couple of weeks after launch. During the private Black Ops 6 reveal at Treyarch, creators caught a glimpse of the upcoming Nuketown remake, while the recent Xbox Showcase seemingly confirmed it as well.

NUKETOWN CONFIRMED TO RETURN IN BLACK OPS 6

With the Black Ops Direct showcase that took place on June 9th 2024, we got our first teaser which revealed Nuketown would be returning in Black Ops 6. In the Main Menu of Black Ops 6, it appears developers were playtesting an early version of Nuketown. While there are no in-game images of Nuketown currently, we can see the developers loading into the map from the menus.

ALL VERSIONS OF NUKETOWN RECAPPED

In previous iterations of Black Ops, we saw many different versions of Nuketown. In Black Ops 1 & 2 multiplayer, it’s the standard Nuketown we all know and love. However, in Black Ops 2 Zombies it had an undead twist to the map. In Black Ops III we saw a futuristic version of Nuketown.

In Black Ops 4 we saw three different versions of the map. In Multiplayer, a soviet-like era covered in snow, in Blackout it was abandoned and deteriorating, and in Zombies (Alpha Omega) a massively expanded Nuketown with more accessible houses & an underground area. Finally, in Black Ops Cold War it featured Nuketown with an abandoned / 80’s twist.

BEHIND THE SCENES LOOK

During the Black Ops 6 presentation shown at the Treyarch studio, we saw a list of all maps returning in BO6. Out of all of these maps, one specific map stood out specifically. A map listed as “Redacted” was shown. It appeared to show a Sandstorm sweeping over Nuketown, with a green & yellow house. While it was never confirmed, it was heavily implied it would be a bonus map to Black Ops 6 possibly releasing soon after launch.

WHEN NUKETOWN COULD RELEASE IN BLACK OPS 6

With 16 unique and brand new maps confirmed to be releasing on launch in Black Ops 6 and no remasters/remakes, it’s unclear when we could see it. However, due to information I saw at the Treyarch presentation, it seems we could see it as soon as Pre-Season in Black Ops 6. Nuketown is a staple in the Black Ops franchise and the COD community is big on small maps, so it’s only a matter of time before Nuketown makes it’s return once again.

MANNEQUIN EASTER EGG RETURNING?

As seen in Black Ops 3 and Black Ops Cold War, it’s possible the mannequin easter could be returning yet again in Black Ops 6 in Custom Games. In Black Ops 3 after shooting all mannequin heads around Nuketown it would turn them into Zombies that can kill you, and in Black Ops Cold War after shooting all the mannequin heads around the map it would apply a retro 80’s style effect on your screen. It’s unclear what they could do if this easter egg returned in BO6, but it could be related to the era of the game or based around how Nuketown looks.
