Call of Duty 2024, affectionately dubbed by fans as Black Ops 6 is set to release in the latter end of this year. Black Ops 6 rumors, leaks, and theories have been spreading across the internet for a good while now. We at DETONATED wanted to take a look back at some of the leaks and rumors, specifically those related to the Black Ops 6 Campaign mode. By reassessing the COD 2024 Campaign leaks we’ve already seen, we hope to build a more coherent image of what the mode may look like, and use this to help create further predictions.

OPEN-WORLD
According to reports from Insider Gaming, Black Ops 6 is set to continue the trend started by Modern Warfare III by having open-world style Campaign content. However, rather than simply having a handful of open-world missions that break up a traditionally structured Campaign, Black Ops 6 is reportedly set to center its entire campaign around this open-world design.

Leakers on twitter have suggested the Safehouse feature from Black Ops: Cold War’s campaign will return – seemingly becoming a location you start at before entering the open-world or a “prep zone” prior to missions.

MISSIONS
Rumors also suggest that there will also be traditional, linear, setpiece-driven single player missions as well. These missions, while fewer in number than a traditional CoD title, are set to be the pace-breakers in a campaign of open-world content, mirroring how MWIII structured its campaign.

Various reports of datamines on twitter have given us a handful of supposed mission codenames: “Contract, Union, Safehouse, ‘A Farm Mission’, Storm, Extract, Redaction, and Impostor.” This campaign is also reportedly created by the team at Raven Software, with support and oversight from Treyarch, similarly to Black Ops Cold War.
SETTING
Initial reports on the game’s setting came from WindowsCentral, who wrote that Black Ops 6 was set to take place in the 1990s with occasional steps back into the post Cold War era of the late 1980s. Jez Corden at WindowsCentral continued: “According to multiple sources familiar with Activision’s plans, Call of Duty 2024 will sport the Black Ops moniker and once again follow some of the West’s more shadowy military dealings in global conflict scenarios. Black Ops ‘6’ will take place during the Gulf War…” This likely sets the game as a direct follow up to Black Ops: Cold War, and the campaign storyline within.

CHARACTERS
Stepping into a Cold War follow up storyline immediately brings into mind the questions of cast. We can start with our most concrete information: actor Luke Charles Stafford leaked his involvement with Call of Duty back in July of 2023. According to him, he is playing a character named Ratcliffe, and if his timeline of “next year” is correct then he will appear in Treyarch’s Black Ops 6 title.

We also heard that we can expect to see the return of Russell Adler and Frank Woods. Various twitter leaks have also reported the introduction of new characters to the Black Ops franchise. We have little information on them, except their names: “Felix, Marshall, and Neumann.”

CONCLUSION
To wrap up, we know that 2024’s release is set to be a Black Ops game from the team at Treyarch, with a campaign created by Raven Software. “Black Ops 6” is set in the late 80’s to the 1990’s as a sequel to Black Ops: Cold War. The campaign will feature returning Black Ops characters like Adler and Woods, as well as a cast of new faces – at least one of which will be played by Luke Charles Stafford.
We don’t have a ton of information on Ratcliffe, Neumann, Marshall, or Felix, but expect to begin to piece their personalities together as we have campaign clips revealed to us.
