Black Ops 6 & Warzone just released Season 2 roughly a week ago. While looking forward in Call of Duty is great, it’s always important to remember your past. One thing the community hasn’t forgotten are the fan favorite characters, the OG Aether Crew! If rumors & sources are to be believed, we’ll be seeing them return to the Call of Duty Black Ops Zombies story. Join us as we go over the rumors/teports surrounding them, Call of Duty 2025, the potential return of Outbreak, & more. Here’s what you need to know:
The OG Aether Crew Return
Based on a report from ‘Insider Gaming’, we’re set to see the return of the OG Zombies crew in COD 2025. The legendary & iconic characters of Nikolai, Dempsey, Richtofen, & Takeo are to make their long-requested return to the Zombies story. There is a catch to this, however. As the report states, these versions of the characters appeared to look older than their Primis counterparts but are also not their Ultimis selves. What versions of these four characters will it be? Will they retain any memory of the old Aether timeline? We’ll have to wait & see.
It’s also mentioned that we’ll see the biggest ever Round Based map. It’s said to be “Tranzit Inspired”, with a unique transportation system to traverse the massive map. There’s also talk of the huge map having 8-player gameplay. That would be quite the step-up from the usual 4-man crews we usually run in Round Based experiences. Seeing how large this map is rumored to be, 8 players could be possible & could make Easter Egg runs a lot more fun.
Alongside those mentions, it’s also worth noting COD 2025 is set to have 6 total Zombies maps throughout the game’s lifecycle. This however could change by the time of the game’s release of course. There are many factors that go into how many maps a game will have, so keep expectations tempered.
New Zombies Maps
Insider Gaming have also reported there are 5 other additional ‘Round Based’ maps for COD 2025 (BO7). These maps were said to have been built from the ground up alongside the earlier mentioned massive map, coming with the ‘transit like’ transportation system. Here are the locations reportedly being worked on for (BO7):
- A Map Set in Afghanistan.
- A Map Set in Vietnam.
- A Japanese Temple located at the bottom of a Volcano.
- A Space Station located within the Dark Aether.
- A Map Set in New York City Post WW2.
*All these locations may not make it into the game.
Another thing of note is that all these maps reportedly were built to run across multiple modes. Meaning these maps could be played on Round Based, Grief, or Outbreak! The possibilities are endless.
Outbreak
Outbreak is rumored to be returning in COD 2025. Outbreak was experimental mode that Treyarch tried out in Black Ops: Cold War. It was a great experience for players to enjoy & an alternative to Round Based Zombies. From what’s been said, it’s possible we see Outbreak make a return to Zombies, this time on the Avalon map.
Avalon was set to be a new Warzone map unveiled & released during the BO6 lifecycle. However, it seems the map is in limbo for the time being. This could mean it’s being saved for another time, or another mode perhaps. According to TheGhostOfHope over on twitter, the Avalon map is rumored to be potentially used for Outbreak in Black Ops 7 Zombies.
Perhaps we see Outbreak return in Black Ops 7, being able to play as the returning Aether crew on it. This could lead to the OG four characters getting wrapped up in the open-world undead misadventures. Having to figure out how to stop whatever unruly force that seeks to take control of the Dark Aether, as well as the modern world. These four can never catch a break, can they?
Carry Forward into COD 2025
There’s a rumor circulating about Carry Forward into COD 2025 from Black Ops 6 Zombies. This would entail content from Black Ops 6, being available in COD 2025 to use, on top of whatever new content COD 2025 brings us. As for things we’d like to see carry over into COD 2025, here’s a running list:
- All Augments
- All Perks
- All Ammo Mods
- All Field Uogrades
- All Classic Wonder Weapons & their Skins
- All Zombie Types
It’s also been speculated that we’ll be seeing carry forward for all of the BO6 Zombie Maps. Black Ops 6 is rumored to have 3 more maps added in its life cycle. This would carry all 7 additional maps over to COD 2025, alongside the new maps the new COD is certain to bring.
