All Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Endings Explained

Modern Warfare 4 endings explained: After the Decapitation mission, Ko Jin Hyuk stays in North Korea to fight for his homeland and potentially become Supreme Leader. Ghost, the sole remaining member of Task Force 141 after Price dies, continues in DMZ. Laswell deletes Task Force 141 files, appoints a new Watcher, and shifts the focus to DMZ operations.

Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Early Access began today, on October 16th, 2026, and with that comes an extremely well received conclusion to the Modern Warfare Series as a whole. With many twists and turns, MW4 packs a punch when it comes to jaw dropping moments, and especially with its extremely bold ending, closing loose ends while still leaving enough for the future. The Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Ending is split into 3 separate endings; Korea, Ghost, and Laswell:

Modern Warfare 4 Korea Ending Explained

At the end of the 15th Mission in the Modern Warfare 4 Campaign, Decapitation, we get our first ending to the North Korean Storyline following Sierra-1, which includes Park, Dunn, and more, through the entire invasion of South Korea, to taking it back after killing the new Supreme Leader, Ri Ju-Young. Once destroying the North Korean Presidential Palace, the whole squad is leaving on a Helicopter, when Park notices Ko Jin Hyuk, standing in front of the burning building.

Ko, who defected from the North Korean Regime to help Sierra-1 after the death of Ri Seung-Ho by his own sister, Ri, engages with a conversation with Park about his future. After a small exchange, Ko decides to stay in North Korea, despite wanting to leave in previous missions.

Ko states he doesn’t know what he’ll do, but knows Korea is his home, and wants to fight for it. This could only mean Ko wants to rise to power himself as Supreme Leader, and lead North Korea like Ri Seung-Ho wanted to, and not engage in conflict like The Archer was forcing him into. Ko may return in DMZ as we know the story will continue after the Campaign.

Modern Warfare 4 Ghost Ending Explained

In the final mission of the Modern Warfare 4 Campaign, Greater Good, we play as Captain Price eventually come face to face with The Archer, but this time, its a fight to the death. After Price uses a metal pipe lodges in his side to eliminate The Archer, Price is left to bleed out on the ice.

Ghost arrives, and has a brief conversation with Price, before he finally dies. Ghost, with a solemn look on his face, gets up and walks away. We know Ghost will be the main character of DMZ, taking place in Hajin, sporting a new look from the Vault Edition which is canon to the ‘next step’ of his character, revealed by Infinity Ward.

But for what this means for Ghost, he’s on his own. Every original member of Task Force 141 is gone, and he’s the last one standing. A popular theory is that Ghost will be the main character of Infinity Ward’s next Call of Duty title, one that could echo that of Call of Duty Ghosts from 2013… but for now, we’ll see Ghost again in DMZ working to remove the left over weapons trying to be taken by Russians and the remaining North Korean Forces.

Modern Warfare 4 Laswell Ending Explained

After the Modern Warfare 4 Campaign Credits play, a secret bonus cutscene plays, showing Laswell in a cafe on her laptop. She is deleting all of the remaining files of Task Force 141, as Soap died in Modern Warfare 3, and Price/Gaz in Modern Warfare 4. Ghost is most likely deleted because he is no longer associated with 141, and instead on his own in the DMZ under a new Force.

After wiping her laptop, a mysterious woman arrives at the table with Laswell, which she knows. Now we don’t know who this character is, but Laswell tells her that she will become the new Watcher, retiring from her position we’ve known her in since Modern Warfare 2019.

The big mystery lies within this new character, but I have a feeling we will learn more about them in DMZ, as Laswell states they are shifting focus to that, where Ghost is currently operating.
