The next chapter of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 Zombies story is headed to Feudal Japan in Kowakujo! As most Zombies maps are in the modern era, Kowakujo is sure to be loaded with many different Side Easter Eggs, to go alongside the Main Quest itself in BO7 Zombies. These Side Easter Eggs are sure to provide plenty of rewards to aid players against the undead, including high tier loot like weapon upgrades or Wonder Weapons. Some Side Quests even provide more backstory for our main cast of characters. Let’s take a look at all the different Side Easter Eggs you can complete on Kowakujo here in Black Ops 7 Zombies. Here’s what you need to know:
All Side Easter Eggs
Music Easter Egg
If you locate all three different Mister Peeks headphones, you’ll be able to trigger the music Easter egg for the map. These are the three different locations of the headphones:
- Stables – Located to the left of the Mystery Box spawn, far off into the left corner.
- Kitchen – Hidden on a shelf behind a large bowl of vegetables to the right of Double Tap.
- Onsen Baths – On a shelf to the right of the wall-buy, & directly to the left of a yellow lamp sitting on a small table.
Tom Kane Tribute
Treyach honored Tom Kane by not only carving his initials into the massive tree stump in the Central Courtyard, but with a music Easter Egg as well. Simply sit on the tree stump & stare up at the tree for 10-15 seconds, & ‘When the Stars Go Dark’ will begin to play. You will also hear the voice of Tom Kane reciting his final lines as Primis Takeo from Tag Der Toten.
Wonder Weapon
You’ll likely be able to complete a side quest to obtain the Wonder Weapon here on Kowakujo. This will usually be required for the main quest, but can be completed for casual use as well. Here’s how you can obtain the wonder weapon:
Takeo Side Easter Egg
To embark on this Takeo lore driven Easter Egg, you’ll need to find or craft a Psych Grenade. You’ll want to throw it at the bottom of the stairs headed up into the World Seed room. There will be an illusion of Takeo with the Path of Sorrows. Simply interact with it until you pick it up & begin the side EE.
Once on the pathway, you’ll need to take out all the enemies using the Path of Sorrows. There will be regular zombies, hellhounds, & scorched zombies. Having Melee Macchiato helps immensely. Once you’ve cleared the enemies, a new pathway will open. You’ll have to wall-jump to proceed.
After reaching the final area, you’ll have to face a buffed Oni, who in a twist is Takeo’s brother Takeshi. Take him out & you’ll be teleported back to the map. Once you’ve returned, epic & legendary loot will drop, usually including a PAP crystal, & purple Katana, along with other things.
A nifty surprise is that even though you lose the Path of Sorrows after completing the side EE, but right before you begin the final encounter, you can find the iconic blade in the PAP room. It is Ultra Rarity, making it the third to be added alongside the PPSH & MP-40.
Upgraded Maneki Nemo Tacticals
To upgrade the Maneki Nemo Tacticals, you’ll first need to use the Rifleman trap in the Central Courtyard. While it’s active, reload your weapon infront of a specific window in the wall (the window second from the right). This will drop some white powder.
Pick it up & proceed to the Kitchen. Once in the Kitchen, locate the bookshelf directly in front of Double Tap. There will be a box of matches on the bottom shelf.
The final piece can be located in the Kitchen as well. It will be located under the stove. There will be charcoal in the cubby that you need to interact with until you pick it up.
Once you have all these different pieces, make your way back to the shelf you crafted the Maneki Neko tactical & craft the upgrade. Now when thrown, they will provide a temporary force field that protects you from enemies.
Upgraded Rifleman Traps
You can upgrade the Rifleman Traps within the map by completing these steps. First off, find or craft a Combat Bow Scorestreak. Head to the Central Courtyard Rifleman Trap & activate the trap. Once you do this, pull out the bow & look in the far right window. You should see a blue target. Shoot it with the bow.
After shooting the inital target, run around the wall & shoot all of the extra blue targets that appear with the Combat Bow. Complete this successfully & there will be floating masks infront of the wall. Interact with them to combine them & add an Ammo Mod to the Rifleman trap going forward. You then need the trap to kill roughly 25-30 zombies.
After this, you can activate the trap again to look for that blue target through the window. This can be repeated up to 4 separate times to add multiple Ammo Mods to the trap. Not only will these upgrades be on the Central Courtyard trap, but it will also carry over to all Rifleman traps around the map.
Samurai Mecha Suit
You can build what’s essentially a reskin of the Rhino Streak from MP. This can be obtained by finding multiple Uber Klaus Core pieces within rocks. These rocks will float by within the lava rivers located by Melee Macchiato & Wisp Tea. This EE is pure RNG, so it may take longer than other times to complete.
If you shoot the rocks that float by within the lava rivers infront of & behind Wisp Tea, there’s a chance you get 1 of 4 Uber Klaus Core pieces. Over time you can get both arms, & both legs. Once all 4 have been obtained, the Uber Klaus Core torso will immediately float by.
Picking this up will launch you into a mini-boss fight where you must fight a Zursa & Abomination using the Mech Suit. Complete this successfully to be able to purchase the Mech Suit over in the Flower Garden. It is pricey, but worth it overall.
Horse Race
To begin this Easter Egg, you’ll need t locate 4 carrots scattered around the map. These are the locations they can be found in:
- In Spawn, to the left of the Quick Revive Machine.
- In the Kitchen, within a basket of cabbage, right near where you knock down the plum.
- In the Flower Garden, to the left of the Exfil Phone Booth. Hard to miss so keep an eye out.
- In the Workshop, within a bucket, & nearing the stairs to the War Room.
Once all have been obtained, & all doors on the map are open, there will be an Origami Horse floating above a bucket in the Stables area, right next to the Mystery Box location. Interacting with it will trigger a timed racing Easter Egg on the map.
Your goal is to race a lap from & then back to the stables. There will be sections of the map covered in lava that weren’t before. Giant pads of sushi will be there for you to jump across. You’ll also have to dodge giant Rolling Boulders that will impede your progress, as well as huge Koi that will be jumping out of the lava. Anytime you’re hit, you’ll respawn at the nearest checkpoint.
If you’re playing Co-op, the one who finished first will get better rewards, however if you’re solo, you’ll usually get the better rewards, given you finish in an adequate time.
Free Raygun & World at War Throwback
Over by the training area, you can spot a rock floating by in the lava every 3 rounds. You can jump onto this rock & it will carry you over to a submerged building. Once on this building, you’ll see several rocks appear in the lava.
You’ll need to parkour your way across them u until you reach the next set of obstacles. These will involve mantling & wall-jumping. Be careful, as these later objects will sink into the lava & reappear after you jump onto them. Be careful, but also move with haste as you’re on a timer.
Make it all the way across successfully & you’ll see some familiar statues rise from the ground. These are the statues from the classic Ray Gun Easter Egg in World at War’s Campaign. Depending on how many players complete the Easter Egg successfully, they will each have a Ray Gun in their mouths.
Cat Cafe & Free Perks
Scattered around the map are 5 toy mice that you can locate & pick up. There will only be 5, but there are 8 potential locations that they’ll spawn in. Here is each location:
Once you’ve located all 5 mice, there will be 5 cats that will also spawn in nearest to the locations you picked the mice up in. These cats will only spawn once every 3-4 rounds. You simply need to get kill near them, stare at them, or shoot near them to spook them off. These are the cat locations corresponding to the toy mice:
The final cat location for Onsen Baths is right above the Elemental Pop Machine on a beam.
Once you’ve located them all, head back over to the Tea Garden, where they’ll all be sitting on the roof. Stare at them for about 3-5 seconds, the screen will flash white, & you’ll be rewarded with the Cat Cafe, as well as 2 random perks on the table.
Gacha Machine & Charms
The Gacha Machine can be accessed only when there’s a fissure active near Double Tap in the Kitchens. You’ll want to enter the Euphoric mode by hitting the tree 3 times. Wait till you’re about 350 health & The Gacha machine will appear to the right of the Arsenal machine out in the Kitchen’s Courtyard.
While you have that pink glow around you, melee the Gacha Machine to spawn a yellow field orb. You simply need to walk through it, & continue to do so with other yellow field obs that appear. Once you’ve walked over 8 orbs, you’ll have permanent access to the Gacha Machine.
You can only spin the machine once a round, & there’s only 5 charms you can obtain from the machine. They all have bizarre effects on the player.
- One effect is that it removes the Pack-A-Punch from your weapon.
- Another is that kills will begin to drop plant food. This food can give you a health boost, similar to how it is when you activate the Cherry Blossom Boost from the tree.
- Charms could also put you into that Euphoric state, without having to melee the Cherry Blossom tree.

Free Powerups
Hidden throughout Kowakujo are miniature Powerup icons. If you shoot these icons, you’ll be granted a free Powerup of the icon you shot. Here are all the different Powerups you can find, as well as the locations you can find them in:
- Max Ammo – In a room to the right of an Ammo Cache & Workbench in the Training Area, right outside of a barrier.
- Max Armor – Outside a barrier located across from & to the right of Vulture Aid in the Workshop. You’ll need to jump to see it hidden by the chest.
- Full Power – Located in the Flower Garden, you’ll have to look at the rooftop of a sunken building out in the lava.
- Instakill – Located under a table in the Storage room, to the left of the doorway & Gobblegum Machine.
- Nuke – Located in a hidden corner, right above the lava in the Training Area.
- Double Points – Located on the massive Cherry Blossom Tree in the Central Courtyard.
- Bonus Points – Located in the Kitchens, behind a wall-buy in an upper corner.
- Random Perk – Located in the Kitchens, up on a shelf, in the far corner of the a room hidden behind a vase. This is in the same room that has a fire pit, complete with a hook hanging above it.
- Fire Sale – Located in the Onsen Baths, within a small pool of water onside of the main bath. It’s within a small square shape of sorts.
- This will be only be available once all other powerups are activated.
- Random Perk – Located in the Kitchens, up on a shelf, in the far corner of the a room hidden behind a vase. This is in the same room that has a fire pit, complete with a hook hanging above it.
- This will be only be available once all other powerups & Fire Sale are activated.
